Strange question. but is it possible to ignore a whole sub-forum for example "world football" so you dont se any new posts etc from that sub-forum?
Add a comma-separated list of forum ids to the end of this URL, then bookmark it:
foot.ie/forums/search.php?do=getnew&exclude=
A forum id is the number that appears at the end of the URL when you're in a forum, for example:
foot.ie/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=63

Other alternative is on the main page, double click the icon beside that forum to mark all posts as read, and they won't show up in the New Posts search.
