Tragedy. Ashley is a dick as we all know. The only positve out of this mess is that Hughton has shown his ability as a manager. He performed a miracle at Newcastle and hopefully another premiership side will employ him soon. However, I hope it's not at Wolves though! For some reason I think a club like Wigan would suit him.

Seriously, where did they expect Newcastle to be in the table? Top 4? You must be joking.

I seriously doubt they will finish any higher than they are now, and I would not be surprised
if they get relegated. They are about 5-1 or 6-1 for that.

Only good thing I can think of is that it was gonna happen anyway, so better it's happened while Newcastle have been doing well and Hughton's reputation is intact. Most mid-table teams will go on a bad run at some stage and were he sacked during one of those he'd have looked a lot worse.

Probably the worst decision I can ever remember, even worse than the decision to get rid of Mourinho. They've had a poor month but they are still mid table and exceeding any realistic fans expectations so what kind of manager will be willing to go to a club the treats a manager like this? The only explanation that makes any kind of sense is if O'Neil had agreed to take the job beforehand which is pretty unlikely, still not sure he could do a better job than Hughton given their resources but if they end up hiring someone like Padrew then for me it will go down as the worst sacking in PL history. I really hope they get relegated so that Ashley doesn't get off the hook for such an awful decision.

I wonder if Keano gets the boot will Hughton take his job? He's bound to be a target for Championship Clubs and some of the lower Premier League clubs!!!

What is so great about Jol and Pardew?

If Hughton wants to keep busy then I'd love him to link up with the Irish senior team.

I would say that Chris Hughton would get more out of the Ipswich players than Roy Keane is getting now.

I wonder will Keane jump before he is pushed. It does'nt look like Keane is cut out for football management. Its a pity really.

I wouldn't rush to judgment on Keane's suitability for football management. His achievements to date indicate that the potential is there.

I wouldn't be Keane's biggest fan but he did good work at Sunderland in his first two seasons there, and while he showed his inexperience with a lot of his tranfers, it wasn't all bad.

As for Ipswich it's been pretty mediocre so far, but they're onlly a couple of wins away from being Carling Cup champions, which would be a major achievement.

Pardew is the new Souness. He keeps getting jobs despite achieving sweet FA.

Glen Hoddle is the latest name in the mix, behind Pardew and Jol, if you believe some of the rumours.

It's funny how a manager can live on initial success for a while and then eventually disappear from the picture. Pardew was successful at Reading but then failed at West Ham, Charlton and Southampton, or is it the other way round. It's the managerial merry go round. Mark Hughes isone of these and he'll probably get the sack from Fulham but still get another high profile job.
Forget about the performance or entertainment. It's only the result that matters.

I wouldn't say he failed at West Ham or Southampton but it is a bizzare choice to be honest.

Its defo pardew. Will be announced tomorrow.

Even at Readuing he only did OK. Big money put in but couldn't get promoted to prem. Needed Coppell to do that. One decent year at West ham but hardly inspiring. A disaster at Charlton and almost as bad at Southampton (considering they were in the third tier)

If it is Pardew - The decision to sack Hughton is completely unfathomable.

    Ashley had
A 'cheap' manager, l think the lowest paid PL manager, probably lower than some championship managers.
A manager supported and respected by the supporters, playing staff and media (Not very often you can say that and certainly more than Ashley has achieved).
Gained promotion with a record points tally (I think)
Gained some great results coupled with some poor ones this season so far - a mid table position - Ashley could not realistically have expected anything better at this early stage in the season and we've seen in the past with the likes of Hull being in the top 4 in November doesnt mean you wont be relegated come May!
A manager who was not demanding millions in a transfer kitty to achieve....errr..... mid table safety.

Unless Ashley is going to plough another pile of dosh in to the club for transfers and bring in Mourhino, why on earth would you change it now? Will be interesting to see the comings and goings of players in January as that is ultimately the reason for the timing of the sacking.

I think my opinion of Newcastle and their fans is beginning to soften, I am genuinely starting to feel sorry for them and what they are having to go through each year.......
I thought you were off the drink Ronnie?

It turns out he is big mates with Ashley and the director after meeting at some exclusive night club/casino down in London.

If they had got O'Neill then fair enough but not Pardew.

What Ashley is saying when he wants a more experienced manager is that he wants someone more famous like Keegan, Souness or Kinnear who the average cretin on the street, such as him or the previous ignoramusees has heard about more. The inconvenient fact that their incompetence and mismanagement ensured Newcastles relegation in the first place doesnt seem to be a factor in his judgement.
Youd think if there was one thing the owner had learnt from his tenure in charge, its that he doesnt actually understand anything about football, no matter how much money he's made

What a disgusting spectacle! Hughton has been doing a very fine job, to be replaced by Alan Pardew?? is just disgusting. Pretty much everyone is scratching their heads on this one.

Ashley has really pressed the self destruct button with the sacking of Hughton. If he compounds the mistake by installing Pardew the club will be relegated. Jol is a decent manager but he is also a decent man, and for that reason and his friendship with Hughton he will not take the job.

I wouldn't be surprised to see both Jol and Hughton take over at West Ham in the near future.
Always look on the bright side of life
