    Thumbs up Beginning next Sunday...

...in an exlusive offer, the match programme is offering not just the opportunity to win a pair of tickets to the following home game but ALSO the chance to win free admission for the entire 2002 season.

    Check it out!

No it hasn't come from competition from the fanzine, GWA. It's just a bid to build up programme sales which is something that was planned anyway, something we are always trying to do. Programme sales should be better, end of story, but you can't force people not in the habit of getting one each week to suddenly start doing so. The remaining alternative is to attempt to entice them. If they start, we hope that the quality of the content would hold a lot of them as readers.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: if you buy a programme you are DIRECTLY helping the club. Increased sales should also, if sustained, increase colour content etc thus giving fans even better value for their money. Remember, there is no Irish soccer magazine on the market at the moment - so programmes are the only alternative to newspapers if you want interviews with players etc.

Re: Sunday's availability - Programme, yes; Fanzine, AFAIK yes.

PS I welcome the fanzine, I've no problem with it and I'm on record as wishing it all the best. The reverse is not the case, however....

Yes, FourFiveOne is out on Sunday before the Longford game.

The reverse is the case! I personally always buy it, and AFAIK the other lads do too. And for what it's worth, it's the best eL programme I've seen. Fair play.

Thanks for those comments, FourFiveOne, just couldn't recall any positive post in the past...maybe I'm just getting old and forgetful...
Anyway, keep up the good work with the fanzine - it's great to have something to read at a game as I've always got the programme content read before matchday!!!

Depends what you're up to date with, I suppose. Fanzines well ahead on the on the humour front, though I've a big stattie piece this week that should run them close...

There's also an interview with Mooney and how he's bearing up...

As for deadlines, I can only speak for the programme. But receipt of material: ideally one week before home game, or Monday absolute latest for a Sunday game which is usually the case. We then edit and plan out the issue before setting it on the Wednesday evening when it goes out of our control and the printing process begins...

    Talking Ideas

I've a big stattie piece this week.........
Now that you mentioned it......as a junior stato myself how come the programme doesn't have a stats section with lineouts etc.... It would be 2 less pages of articles needed

Somehow I think the fanzine may be a different setup

Dave is gonna be SO disappointed, rebel, he's doing a line-ups piece for the past few issues. Haven't you noticed, or are you just one of the multitude who pretends to buy the programme?

    Exclamation Away games

I only go to the away games this year

Only been to Dundalk (bought programme) & Shamrock Rovers (when got inside I honestly couldn't find any on sale) so don'y rely on my 1.50 to keep the programme afloat

    Excuses, excuses!!

BTW, we tried to float a programme subscription this year for people who couldn't make games, but still wanted to get the old proggie...
Would you be interested next season, if you're still domiciled in Dear Old Dirty D? I think the rate this year was £36 including postage for every home programme.

    Gerry,

Am I going to have to destroy the rest of this season's programmes with a scissors in order to enter?

    Well, you could buy two...
No, I take your point, Joe, I hate cutting programmes myself. But we are just following instructions...

I don't know if it's possibel, but maybe the token could be put in the corner of a page (preferably on the back of an ad) so that it would at least minimize the problem.

I'll try that next time, Joe. This token thing was pretty much the last item to go in - it was decided very late to start it up in the Longford issue - so it was a bit thrown together from our end. I would have preferred to announce it in the programme and introduce it in the following issue.
