We can have three wonderful weeks in November to savour then.
In fairness unclekev nobody on the previous page of the thread has mentioned much about getting to the final, there are a few 'ifs' regarding attendences but most of it is stuff about attendences from the past.
Your right, We have a long way to go yet.

We're not favourites according to this poll. Someones got very tired fingers in Waterford over 3500 votes
    Good luck to them

Under Willie McStay and the following season after promotion the average attendance was comfortably 4,000. These 2 years were the best attended in our history I'd say. Successful team though with gifted players ( eg Annand etc). I agree that the core support is better now and more consistent. Also the extra crowds in the 90's were country lads. I think the core support is Sligo town based.

I doubt this, all LOI clubs would have had large support in the 50's, 60's & 70's prior to the EPL.

You're dead right there ! the last really big game of importance we had was against Dublin City. It was the last game of the season and who ever won the game won the first division and got promoted. We brought about 3,000 out to whitehall that night. Previous Cup finals have seen us bring 15,000 to Lansdowne and over 5,000 to Tolka. I'm sure if we made this years final we would muster up 5,000 "Bray" fans easy...

Just out of curiosity, how many supporters who attend atleast every home game are there ? going by home league games there is about 1,200 regulars and the rest would be either going for the first time or going every so often, and then you also got event junkies. I wouldn't be complaining if we brought a big crowd to the final, sunshiners or not a big crowd for Rovers would be a massive boost for atmosphere and the game in general so long as the sunshiners will help create it . If we make the final the best rendition of Stand up for The Bit O' Red is in order .

in fairness the more ya get the sunshiners to the showgrounds the more chance there is of getting them to come regularly. i think if we win the cup attendances will improve next year. people complain about the sunshiners but if ya convert a hundred or so its a good thing. i went to shrowgrounds al the time from 11-16 and i doubt i entered the ground once from 1996 until tarted going again in 2004. went a few times due to a friend in the team and never looked back

You'll always get sunshiners when any team are doing well in any sport especially in Ireland where people are event junkies. As rovers100% said it's a good chance to attract some regular support.I imagine if we get to the final my flatmate will be making his 2nd trip to a Rovers game this season

Same as, except I've only gotten back there in the last year-was always working sat. nights, but not doing that anymore, so I can now actually get to matches! so I've found one advantage to being unemployed

Get the sunshiners out. Drag them out. Their money goes to Rovers, and some of them may find they like it enough to keep coming back, and drag a few of their friends. How many people are there who are now regular "hardcore" fans who started coming to the Showgies in the middle of the McStay/Sanchez/Cotterill years?
We should be encouraging people to come and see Rovers, not the opposite.

I think it dosent matter if the support is hardcore or fair weather supporters as long as we make the showgrounds a fortress, loud and proud, intimidating for away teams to play there, will boost the lads confidence and make teams think twice about playing here, also the better the support now the better the support in the future
