I seem to remember 3 years ago at Germany 2006, FIFA being very heavy handed in clamping down on "ambush advertising" by any companies who were not official sponsors. Didn't a load of Holland supporters have to watch a match trouserless because they tried to get into the ground wearing lederhosen bearing the name of a non-sponsor Dutch brewery?

I can envisage us watching Ireland topless in South Africa next year because our Eircom logoed shirts are confiscated. Not so funny on a cold winter's evening there. I'd like to think the FAI bear this in mind when selling the new 2010 shirt, but I very much doubt it.

Wouldn't happen. If the fans don't have the option to buy sponsor free shirts they cannot be removed.
Tifo poles, sausage rolls and a few goals.

Plenty of places online TP. Try Toffs or to compare prices just google Replica Ireland Jersey 1960's.

I've had one for over a decade and it's still going strong. The greater miracle is it still fits!

I've got the Toffs 1978 Ireland jersey. Quality top, no logo, and they cater for the larger gent. You can't go wrong.

That's precisely my point. The logos can't be removed, so the shirts will.

The FAI should sell Irish jerseys sponsor-free in World Cup years because Ireland shirts with Eircom emblazoned across the front will fall foul of FIFA's ambush advertising policy that was zealously enforced at the last World Cup.

That's it alright. As for the year, I was just going on what it says on the website. Anyway, that's really irrelevant. If you want a nice Ireland jersey with no corporate logo that will last a few years, then I'd certainly recommend it.

Shopping in Belfast today I noticed that the current home kit has been reduced to £15 for adult sizes.

It looks a bit too much like a George Best era NI top is my only problem with it. The ultra modern badge really doesn't suit it.

Wearing the Cameroon shirt might work. It would confuse teams long enough for us to nick a goal perhaps. I like your thinking man.
