As I already said I don't think the league have any jurisdiction over these type of games. If a game is played on a PRIVATE astroturf what can they do. Are they trying to say all clubs should notify the league when their players play a bit of astro. Just a pity these bureaucrats have and are destroying the game in this county and I am including the current referees committee in that. Any chance of a asteroid flattening Milebush or is that just wishful thinking.
it all a money racket, involving referees as well westport played iorras in iorras in a friendly couple weeks ago 105 euros for referee, crazy money in times we have talking to few ther said they were charged over 230 euros for some super leagues games last year where do they think money is coming out of.
All we hear on the Mayo general topics is complaints, from what has been said here Snugbora has genuine greevences, referees fees are they not set by the FAI, and problemis in Erris its so far away and only referee as far i know is not up to Super league standard. With the AGM on the 8th of March why not propose that Super league matches dont have assistant referee's as linesmen. If Snugbora feel that strong about the chairman why dont they propose a motion of no confidence in him.
The ref who was at the game Newport / Snugboro game was not suspended and is entitled to ref any game at his level (one). He is suspended by the Mayo Ref’s Assoc (trade union). Poor form by the Mayo League who seemed to the run the game to suit themselves and their clubs and against clubs who question them.
I read with interest on the Connaught Telegraph about criteria plans to extend the minimum size of a pitch from 90m x 50m to 95m x 50m, which has potential repercussions for clubs with smaller pitches. I believe that the FAI have being notified of the proposed changes, which I'm sure would be discussed by the clubs on Thursday night.
Mayo League to play Finn Harps in the first round of the FAI League Cup in Finn Park. Monday 26th March 7.45 pm.
Is it true that the boro/newport appeal was upheld and now the ML have egg on their face?? Great result if so ML 0 Clubs 1.....
Let’s hope the clubs for once come together (not go against the club that is proposing the veto of the new pitch size) and vote this stupid new rule down. IMO the reason for the new pitch size is to rule out Celtic's Rival Arena but they will find that 3 other clubs in Mayo grounds will not meet the new size. Next they will ask us to play with a GAA ball.
its just another stupid idea brought in by this chairman who i said before is ruining the game in Mayo. alot of people are losing interest in playing and being apart of clubs in this county over the last couple of years and its because of stupid rulings brought in by the ML. All about money and increasing his expenses......
i doubt the boro will even get an apology from him, instead he'll be waiting to give us a bigger fine as soon as he can
Sweet Jesus if its not one thing its another. What purpose would this proposal serve??? and I presume any rule would have to be within FAI/UEFA/FIFA guidelines. Glad to hear some sense prevailed on the Boro issue.
Here we have another season ready to start and yet again nobody's talking about the football, it really is disheartening.
You must assume it's to rule out the Rival arena. Strange one, I thought the Mayo League would be interested in seeing more games played rather than called off? Sometimes it seems they want to bring in new rules just for the sake of it. Almost like someone is trying to build a legacy.
FIFA laws of the games say:
Dimensions The length of the touch line must be greater than the length of the goal line. Length (touch line): minimum 90 m (100 yds) maximum 120 m (130 yds) Width (goal line): minimum 45 m (50 yds) maximum 90 m (100 yds) All lines must be of the same width, which must be not more than 12 cm (5 ins).
ML going for 5m longer each side than the minimum. What are the dimensions of Rival Park? Which other pitches are in danger?
I can understand if clubs are unhappy playing on astroturf and personally I would prefer to play on grass any day. But if this is an attempt to rule the rival arena out while still allowing Milebush to be used then its just a disgrace and an embarrassment to all concerned.
dont think newport appealed to the connaught council(think they couldnt afford the appeal or got there appeal in on time, but not too sure) so unless the chairman does the right thing and reverse his ruling in the first place, newport will still be deducted 3 points. but hes never going to admit he was wrong......
Heard the Mayo League didn't want to allow any vote on the size of the pitch, but were forced into it by the Celtic Chairperson. Top table not one bit happy. They stated it was not a voting matter and only can be changed by them. They also could not give a valid reason why the decided to change the pitch dimensions. Vote was taken with 26 delegates in favour of the Mayo League reversing the decision on pitch size at their next meeting. We will wait and see.

That is great to hear that the Mayo league is told that its run by the clubs and not by the top table and the clubs stood up to them. Its only last week a different comitee, our club forced them too admit they had brought someting in that an adverse effect last season that they did not have too,not one club supported us at the meeting but a senior club told us when the meeting was over we were right, when questioned why they said nothing at the meeting they said what was the point.
Thank you thank you thank you. A victory for the common man, common sense, truth, justice, and the american way!!!! Massive red faces in Milebush at the moment. How did they think they would get away with it??? We all know it was a personal witch hunt for 2 men in particular. This petty crap has to stop!!
Do they love to be disliked or always controversial?? Hungry for attention, hungry for power!!!!
Now bring out the mouthwash!!!!
