Are Mayo League games going ahead this weekend as Tony was a great sponsor of the league for a long time? RIP

There are many more aspects to football than just playing, but it appears as if you are not interestded in these. Put yourself forward, and we will see what you are capable of doing for us. As far as I can see the Mayo league is made up of people that were with clubs for years. They are most certainly not always right but they do try to do these things properly. I do not agree with some of the ridiculous suggestions that are often made, but we do need the support from the league at club level to improve our own standards, and this includes courses for our members.
If WE want the courses, then surley the managers should be allowed to decide to go or not instead of getting rediculous fines for non attendance. I never said i'd do a better job nor even debated the fact that the ML are doing a poor job, but I did say that they are more interested in gathering money than letting clubs get on with playing football. I am personally very friendly with an ex league management commitee member who has stepped aside due to the money raising ethos that has come into the ML. An hour and a half of meetings would be taken up with finances and 45 mins dedicated to football matters.

Is it not a requiremnt for all clubs within the Mayo league to have qualified coaches within their clubs? If it was left up to a club on a voluntary basis, would they comply?
The replys on this Forum would suggest otherwise?? Aren't the Kick start courses voluntary? No problem with clubs attending and getting coaches qualified me thinks. I have no gripe with progression within the league but get the fundamentals right and stop bullying clubs and officials into unnecessary and finiancially draining practices i.e score boards, press box etc and get better surfaces and changing facilities in order.

Does anyone remember anything about the FAI leaving €100,000 aside for the development of the game in Mayo and the development of clubs. I think it was announced during the Festival of Football to mark the FAI AGM being held here but I don't remember hearing anything about it since and defo no money has filtered through. Maybe I've the wrong end of the stick, and if so I apologise in advance. Can anyone enlighten me? Thanks

All the clubs had to apply for the funding putting forward proposals at the time. Our club got the money a couple of months after the AGM and there was no problem. It was announced by John Delaney when they called to the club. I would say it was the same for all the clubs. I think you are a bit late now.

Just read on the paper about the disciplinary issues surrounding Ballyheane regarding the forged registration forms and the punishment handed out. Sounds like a serious crackdown by the League on forged signatures.

I think Tom Kelly crossed the line with his article in the Connaught. If he wanted to make a point about forged registrations fair enough, but to make an example of the Ballyheane secretary was shamefull. In all honesty I would say there is forged signatures in every clubs registration this season.

Agree. It was a tad severe. It could have just appeared as a small news item but it grabbed the soccer headlines.
Also with Ballyheane and most clubs finding it hard to get good people like Mick Byrne its a shocking Ban 2 whole years.

Typical over reaction by the league yet again, using a sledgehammer to drive a thumbtack.

With 3 rounds of fixtures gone I have managed to see 4 games and I dont know if its just me or is the standard at an all time low player wise ?, also there are some shockingly poor refs out there at the moment, I thought there was a ref inspector to bring up the standard.

yeah i think standard has dropped in all divisions alright. not taking the reffs side or anything but i have noticed a lot of the new reffs have'nt a lot of experience, i did the course with a lot of them about 18 months ago (i just stayed associate reff) this could explain some of the decisions in games recently ie: reffs inexperienced at junior level making decisions on situations they do'nt come across at youth level, where they should be allowed more time in before the progress to junior level anyway.
