I hear the league has suspended some good football people over the registration mess THEY created this year. Honestly have some of these people no shame or sense of the current crisis most teams in the league are facing at the moment.

Some secretaries and managers used their imagination in signing the new forms and picked up some crazy suspensions. If truth be told I would say their isnt a registration sheet in the whole league that hasnt at least a couple of questionable signatures.

On a slightly related note do clubs realise that the coaches workshop taking place at the weekend is now COMPULSORY to attend. Clubs not attending will be subject to discplinary action and fines. This is announced 2 days before the workshop. All along it has been an invite to take part. I think it is a disappointing day when the league now is forcing people to attend these things on:
    1. A working day for most people
    2. Despite the fact it is geared towards coaching 15-16 year old's this directive is from the junior league.
    3. All managers will be out on Sunday with the start of the league.

It has to be realised that people involved in Mayo clubs are doing so on a voluntary basis, the way things are going there will be no one to coach teams or run clubs, I know of alot of people that are becoming very disillusioned with the way the league is going.
I'm all for educating people, but the league needs to adapt with changing circumstances, why not run some of these courses at night, when people might find it easier to attend. Gone are the days of getting time off work that easily.
I wonder do other leagues have the same proceedures, I appreciate we have some of the best facilities in the country down to the hard work of the league management committee, but at what price?

The fact is the whole thing is just one big charade. Make it look like we are this iconic league that all other junior leagues should look upon and revere, when in reality a lot of clubs are finding it hard to survive with the league placing increasing financial pressue on them and then suspending the people most likely to raise the funds. The stantard of play is decreasing at an alarming rate, I honestly thought that a new chairman would see a change to a more player orientated league but alas seems like he has been indoctrined into the Mayo league faith. Pity because he fought the good fight for many years for his club. Of course nobody can say a word because if you do you will get the Moy Villa treatment, hammered for every step out of line for years to come.

If anyone wants to send in their clubs results so they appear on the snugboro website/manulla website and possibly a few others in development plus on this scoreboard
    http://scoreboard.snugboro.com
Then PM me with your mobile number and I'll set it up for you.

I agree totally regarding the mayo League, they care more about outside perceptions of the league than the clubs involved. At a recent meeting I was at, two clubs didn't turn up; 'Thats 200 euro for us anyway', said the ex chairman with a smile. You can't run a voluntary football league like a prison camp, punishing those who don't do what you say. And as you very astutely point out, the standard is getting worse the whole time...

    Speak out

Its good to hear people speaking out on what is clearly a complete joke the rules that are coming in. I heard yesterday that now clubs will be fined if they dont have away socks and shorts i.e Non matching kit completely. WTF like??? Who do they think we are . This is gone beyond a joke. If we want to play in the airtricity League we would bloody well have have joined it. Most people are right! Is this all for show? Or is this an attempt to cover up the cracks of a footballing county where teams are struggling or collapsing, money is non exsistant and the quality of football is flailing.
A huge amount of cop on is needed. Also teams who recently had to pulled out of the league have not just been fined but also demanded to pay insurance and registration money!!!
And believe me with the new captain in charge things will get a lot more lunney then we are seeing!!
    Better the Devil you know!!

Everything that has been said is completly true and we all know that the ML likes it's book judged by its cover to all other county boards. Problem is that no one ever does anything about it, we have a good moan and gripe on a forum like this and yet we still put up with the BS that the throw at us every year instead of getting together as 1 voice and refusing to continue to be dragged along and dictated to by so few. Yes we want good facilities and high standards but let us decide when to do it and not face punishment for failure to attend unecessary and non requested appointments which are no more than a summons and drag for tose that have to attend

RE Celtic astro, it HAS been approved for ANY competition Up to UEFA standards, which is great for the club. With the amount of teams taking the field it'll give the main pitch some much needed rest when required.

It is a bit narrow, but lovely to play football on. It's within regulation size hence the cert! I'd say Celtic 'B' and Achill will be played on it on Sunday as the main pitch will accommondate the two Finn Harps games on Sat and Tues.

Thankfully there are not too many people around like you that think that way. Those of us involved actively in clubs want the Mayo league to do coaching sessions for our team managers. Our managers want these sessions. We also want many of the other courses that are run by the league as many clubs have several teams involved in football at different levels. There are many more aspects to football than just playing, but it appears as if you are not interestded in these. If you do things right, there will be no need for fines and gripes. I agree with you as regards doing something about the things that are wrong in the Mayo league and there is a forum for that. Put yourself forward, and we will see what you are capable of doing for us. As far as I can see the Mayo league is made up of people that were with clubs for years. They are most certainly not always right but they do try to do these things properly. I do not agree with some of the ridiculous suggestions that are often made, but we do need the support from the league at club level to improve our own standards, and this includes courses for our members.

Well if I am so wrong why is the general feeling that last weekends course was unnecessary and only made compulsery on junior teams?? Teams sent people to this workshop just to avoid fines and their representitives are not involved in the managerial side in their club? This would appear to me as a waste of money and peoples time.

I do not want to be argumentive over this matter but the people I spoke to at the course were delighted with the content. I was not aware of anyone saying that they attended just to avoid fines. Were you at the course because I do not know where you get the general feeling from?

I understand that it was the Mayo Junior League that initiated the course and cannot enforce their rules on schoolboys or women's league teams or clubs. Anyway as I said before, we are happy that the league runs these courses as we lose several managers every second year or so.

Funny that as several people i spoke to that attended the course did so to avoid fines and were only representing their club and not involved in a managerial role. And if you go back over the submissions on this forum i think you will find several other disgrunteled observers voicing their discontent with the fact it was made compulsary on junior teams and the time and day it was organised for.
Im not saying it's not informative, but let each club decide for themselves to attend and not be bullied or threatned into it. Im sure some of those that did attend found it informative and enjoyable but others were mere observers and did'nt benifet from the day.
Just because the Junior League initated the course should not mean that it be made compulsery on anyone when at first it was advertised as open invatition and then stepped up to a compulsary course as the number of clubs enquireing after it was very little.

I think you have lost this debate, and spot kick is correct. You should stop digging a hole for yourself and leave the matter rest. These courses are required on an ongoing basis whether they are compulsary or not. You are living in the past with your thoughts. Is it not a requiremnt for all clubs within the Mayo league to have qualified coaches within their clubs? If it was left up to a club on a voluntary basis, would they comply?
