    Wireless internet problem

I've recently moved to a new apt that has a Smart telecom wireless BB connection. There was one Vista laptop already connecting to this. Was trying to find a way of disabling the WEP key on the router to let me in as nobody remembers what it is, but I then accidently deleted the Smart username/password from the modem instead. Managed to get this from tech support (as the initial documentation isn't available), and now I can connect my XP laptop straight to the modem using a cable, and can access the modem itself. However, doing the same thing, I can't connect the Vista laptop.

I'm not too familiar with Vista, plus it's in Polish which doesn't help. I was told that I just need to assign the Vista laptop a static ip address on the home network, and I should be able to connect after that. I will try this this evening, but can anyone give me some further advice?

Have a big glass of wine before attempting this.

is there a reset button on the router? This will reset everything on the router, including security, allowing you to set it yourself.
On the other hand, it opens the network to attack.

Got the Vista laptop working, so both can connect through a cable. I was also able to connect to the router and get the WPA key.

Now I've just gotta figure out why the router and modem aren't talking to each other.

Router probably shagged the modem's wife. Router's are nasty little b'tards.
