For most of us it is just another day but for some it takes on a different meaning.
In Japan 9 is considered a very unlucky number with many of them refusing to enter rooms with a 9 included while japanese emperors would never have worn a robe with nine dragons.
Alternatively in China it is considered lucky second only to 8 due to it being associated with long life as it sounds like the word for long lasting.
Chinese emperors would also be associated with nine fearsome dragons as can be seen in architecture. It is believed also that the Forbidden City was built with 9999 rooms.
It could also be a marketers dream with plenty of €9.99 specials available I am sure.
The 9/9/09 is also the 252nd day of the year and if you add the 3 digits together 2+5+2 they equal 9
So does anyone on here have beliefs in numerology?

Yup. I am a number 1 person and would read into numbers a bit. Like the mysticism associated with them.
Am also slightly to very number dyslexic (depends how tired or stressed I am!) so I kinda fear and hate numbers too.
My son was born 13 weeks prematurely on 08/08/07. He weighed 1.1kg and the medics said he would not survive more than a few hours.. A friend gave me hope by saying that he will thrive because he was born on the 8th day of the 8th month, based on the Chinese theory on the number 8.
Four months later he left hospital. He celebrated his 2nd birthday last month and is a perfectly normal child with out any side effects.
It would make you think...!
Nobody knows us, we don't care
09/09/09 is a poor relation to 11/11/'11 at 11:11am.
Totally agree, cant wait for the 11's to stack up. 11.11 is my favourite time of the day as I love the perfect symetry (sp?) of it. I like to get up at that time at weekends and will be logging off at that time tonight.
why was 6 afraid of 7?
Cos 7 8 9.
Oooh mystic!
I like high energy football. A little bit rock and roll. Many finishes instead of waiting for the perfect one.

How do people believe in such garbage
Yeah, numbers are rubbish. But crystals and magnetism rock!
Dates and numbers are just ways of telling the time. Nothing else. New Year celebrations annoy me too. Pointless.
Apparently the world is going to end on 21 December 2012! FACT, well sort of.
Apparently a whole bunch of ancient and modern tribes have all predicted this date, mind you alot depends how you interpret what they say.

I like this bit -
Schele and Freidel calculate that the date at which this odometer would run out lies some 4.134105 × 10^28 years in the future, or 3 quintillion times the scientifically accepted age of the universe
I once looked at the stars above and they seemed to join themselves into the numbers 3.14159. I then thought it must be pi(e) in the sky.
