    82. GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLL for Drogheda from nowhere, Scott Gibb equalises, from Drogheda's sixth corner in as many minutes.

How can he say it's come from nowhere after saying there was 6 corners within 6 mins?!
Hoping for a miracle goal now....*crosses fingers*

FT: Drogheda United 2-2 Sligo Rovers, a game we shouldv'e won . By the sound sof it Morrison seemed to add something to our attack when he was brought on.

Knew we would draw...why sit back all the time when we get a lead?

disapointing we couldn't hold onto the lead. As was said though would have taken 4 points out of the two games this week. Can't believe Bray got a result tonight.

if we hadnt beaten Bohs on Tuesday we'd be joint bottom of the table of the table with Bray instead of 3 points ahead of them and 2 ahead of Drogheda..so to say it counts for little is not exactly true.

Drogheda were the better side in the second half and we were holding on at the end.Delighted to see Ventre score because you cant doubt his commitment.Morrisson scored a great goal.It is going to be a difficult last quarter for us but at least we havent been beaten for a few of matches now.

    Angry

Just back shocking result 2 points dropped we had it in the bag and Cook made a massive tactical blunder dropping Ventre back into central defence after replacing Camaro with Ryan after that Drogheda just strolled though the midfield which we were controlling stupid points to throw away silly to sit back rather than going for another goal as we had Drogheda on the rack.

We started well then gave away a crazy penalty it looked like Camaro sliding in could hear the thud up at the away end , Raf was then denied a blatant peno just before we equalised after great wing play from Cash who crossed for ventre to bang into the roof of the net , Morrision came on as sub and scored shortly afterwards great buildup play from raf , the equaliser was coming once we lost midfield and sat back deep. Can't understand why we kept all our players in box when defending corners as this allowed Drogs to send 9 players into the box everytime .

Agree with your comments...thought it was Ventre for the first but you may be right.Cash had a good game tonight and great to see him get to the back line rather than crossing from further out as he has tended to do.

Nobody has ever doubted the commitment of Ventre. A lot of people doubt his talent. And rightly so I would say.

Should have been winning that match though. Bray winning makes it even worse. I presumed we were well away from the bottom spot.

Like Sligoman moderates a forum, like Dooley drives a bus and like Ian pukes in League of Ireland grounds, Danny Ventre scores goals.

2 points dropped in my book. as said above why play so deep when we are winning it just out does all our good work. ryan done nothing when on and they ploughed through us, bad tactical decision but camano is a liability the peno he gave away was stupid to say the least. peers was brill as usual. keane and kendrick were skined far too often. rafs was prob a peno but he goes down to easy and think that refs can see that so unless stonewall decision its not given. why cant we hold a lead anymore

Once again, a result that's not good enough. A win would have set us up nicely for getting out of the play-off spots, but I would have taken 4 points before these 2 games. Still awful disappointing that a full-time team aren't capable of beating muck like Drogheda.

Definte foul on Raf too, was outside the box but Raf was in on goal so should have been a red...getting used to these terrible decisions at this stage.
Life without Rovers, it makes no sense...it's a heartache...nothing but a fools game. S.R.F.C.

didnt really play once we scored the second. if we didnt take camano off he might have collapsed with tiredness so not much cook could have done, it did affect us though, ventre and ogrady looked solid in the middle.

glad to see morrison finally score, great finish from him. blatant foul on raff which should have been a red card as he was the last man back, may have changed the game. still should have won though, very dissapointed with the result.

Shouldn't have been on the pitch in the first place but why the hell isn't he fit to play 90 minutes?

From what i am reading it seems things changed when Ventre was moved out of the centre of the park.....and Ryan was brought on.

Its simple, chalk and chess. Ventre is in your face, never gives any player a second to think, covers every blade and is as honest as the day is long...moving him into the middle of the pitch (after the Ryan and McGrath perfomrance v Derry that Tuesday night) had to be done because you cannot compete in games and hope to win them if you dont have a chance of competing in the middle of the pitch.

Thats the que to talk about Ryan. Im frankly more sick of seeing him play for Rovers in the centre than i am seeing Glen Whelan play for Ireland in the centre, and thats saying alot.

Its simple, he is everything Ventre or O'Grady isnt, he doesnt put pressure on opposition players, doesnt cover the ground well, seems to be anonymous when defending.
And people will say that hes a good passer....well ya, if standing stationary in the cientre circle while spreading play over 10 yards to a fullback makes you a good passer. But its not as if iv ever seen him go by a player with a small bit of drive and split a defense.

Its just disheartening to see a lad go through the motions, thats what Ryan does. While Ventre is honest and gives it his all, thats the kind of play we need. Ryan did the reverse, the other night v Bohs, an invisible 25 minute performance while on fresh legs...in the 90th minute it was still O'Grady and Ventre that were going strong. Ryan will be good when you are 2-3 nil up at home maybe, otherwise his role is redundant in my eyes.

The only reason i am saying this again is because im reading things like 'they strolled through our midfield' and 'things changed when Ventre went centre halve'

Im not the manager and nor would i be able to be, but if i had to put Ventre back like we did tonight id look into putting Raf back to midfield for his attitude, bite and eagerness to win. Its not exactly time to have players pansying about now is it??

The ones that want to stand up and be counted are doing so, regardless of ability. Our best team is largely made up of honest hardworking players with a few aces in the pack, which is fine i think.
With the right management we will get outy of this, because the full squad is fit and ready.

    Angry Tactics – what tactics??

No way was the drogs penalty decision correct. Our boy won the ball, there was a clash of boots, a very loud clash of boots, the referee decided contact was made and pointed to the spot. Not his first or last mistake. Camano had a shaky start but improved as the clock ticked. Once we got our noses in front we were sailing. Then the horror show began. Our manager began to think tactically, big mistake, he pulls our central defender and totally disrupts midfield. This in a game we looked to have in the bag. Ryan, a ball winner he’s not, was an absolute waste of space. It was akin to opening up a by-pass to allow flow of traffic. It worked this time – for Drogheda. We found ourselves pinned back as you do when the space is opened up to allow the opposition to come at you. What a blunder. Tactics – what tactics. I’ve no doubt Cook has lost it. Who ever saw a manager lap the pitch prior to a game, in our case prior to the most important game so far this season. When the man should have been working on the psychic of his players he’s working on HIS own fitness. Baffling!!
Last night we lost two points because our manager concentrated more on the display of the referee rather than the display of his players. For neigh on ninety minutes the referee got it, the linesman got it, the fourth official got it, everyone got it but Paul Cook. The man has lost it and because of this Sligo Rovers will lose their rightful position in the Premier Division and come next season we’ll be heading to places such as Monaghan, Limerick and the like.

Another 2 points dropped to a relegation rival. I find it hard to see us making up enough points to get out of the bottom 3 now.

The drogs equailiser was inevitable, as we were pushed right back in the last quarter of the game. I think it was 5 corners in a row before their goal. As other people have noted the key error was dropping ventre back into defence. Taking Camano off was the right decision IMO, but Keane should have been pushed into CB and maybe played Cash at RB.

Ventre and o'grady had done well in the middle of the park up to then. But with the ineffective riche ryan and a tiring o'grady in there, drogs swept right through the middle of the park and we were under huge pressure. We could have lost the game in the end.

Morrison scored a good goal. Good to see Cash back on form. Clear foul on Raf in the 1st half. Was outside the box but should have been a red for the drogs player.

Basically we, fcuked up big time. Laid back after the second goal. 11 men in our half after we scored the second, which was a brilliant goal by Morrison. Don't care what anyone says, he is a brilliant player, frustrating at time with his attitude, but how many goals and brilliant passes has he set up and played this season? Just hoofing the ball anytime we got it. Peers, Ventre, Cash and O'Grady all played very well tonight. Cash had one brilliant run, where he took the ball by 4 or 5 players, got a corner from it then iirc.

I still think we'll be alright if we win our home games. We're a match for anybody in the showgrounds. And even though we're all disappointed at not winning last night we're actually unbeaten in 4 games now.
