IF Derry were to go bust, would we see a re-emergence of DCFC in the loi? I'm sure the IFA would be happier to see a high profile Derr side in their league.

Can't see it coming to that to be honest.

    Hence the 'IF'.

Still, it'd be interesting to know.

I think Derry must also be due money from Celtic soon as I think when he makes 10 appearances Derry get another £50k, and they I think its in the contract of McGinn as well. " ex players who are performing very well at the moment.

Personally, I think the option should be on the table for discussion. I'd say it would be overwhelmingly defeated, but it never harms to remind people.
Tifo poles, sausage rolls and a few goals.

McCourt's goal at the weekend was pure brilliance ! it was worth 50k alone reminded me of a goal he got against us a few years ago when he was with Rovers.

The point is Kev that if Derry City, as currently constituted, goes out of existence then any new club will not get the option of joining the LOI. The IFA make a big mistake at an Inter-League meeting held in Oriel Park in 1984 and they knew it shortly afterwards. It’s a mistake they are most unlikely to repeat.

Did they deliver or was it more stalling tactics....

Let's hope it doesn't come to that . I for one want to see a strong LoI with Bohs, Cork and Derry all thriving.

Acornvilla, below is a picture from the latest DCFC press conference on the issue

Unconfirmed reports indicate the same individual is on his way to Muster to "smooth over a few local difficulties"

Last I heard was that Derry had not presented the letter to the Judge. That may have changed by close but I wouldn't bet on it.

But EU laws have changed since that time. As a result, so long as the entry rules of a league are followed (e.g. a vote amongst members), then a club form one league is legally entitled to seek and receive assent to join a league in a different jurisdiction.

Ergo - it is not the IFA's right to refuse a northern club access to the LOI if LOI clubs vote to accept them. The IFA would have its ass grilled under EU Competition and Restraint of Trade Rules - just like the Welsh FA did in the 1990's.

I'm soooooo bored at having to explain this every couple of months on here.
