yeah bit of a nuts quote but I would imagine it is mainly being said to point out the double standards of handling the derry and cork situations.

I think you are spot on Tippex. Nowhere have I seen Derry harbour any hopes of Premier Division - the new board simply accepted we were destined for First at best and the squad we have assembled was definitely built with First Division in mind. It must be tough however to see Cork in arguably as bad if not worse position appearing to save their Premier status.

im just grateful that we're getting to play in the first division. that siad, if we had any chance of playing in the premier, i would have bitten your hand off to take it. and for any supporter/poster on here to say they would do otherwise is either a liar or an idiot, so i think slagging off PO'D for saying such a thing is a bit hypocritical.
i believe in one man, one vote. i should be that one man with that one vote.

    ALWAYS ON TOUR!

I don't blame Derry, Cork or indeed anyone for taking what they are offered by the league authorities- any club would, as pointed out above and elsewhere.

I found the quote mad because the guy seemed to feel Derry should be in the top division. So instead of expressing gratitude at getting to skip the A league, he's instead 'not complaining' about being in the first. Like some quotes around the Setanta Cup question, these seem a little detached from reality.

And a lot of other clubs too, not just Cork. Although I dont agree with us being in the premier, the rules should be applied evenly and dump a lot more clubs out.
Promote the likes of Bray and $hel$.

Correct Mr A.....he's not complaining about us being in the first. We only applied for a first division licence so we had no chance of being in the premier anyway.

What you should be more worried about Mr A is your manager was shaking his head in disbelief at how good Derry were V Sporting Fingal last night and seemed resigned to another few years in the first.
So if you think Bohs are big read this. http://www.astronomy.ie/perpespective.html

What part of the quote are you struggling with Mr a ??

The bit where he said we'd have preferred to be in the Premier league ? Shock horror - which club wouldn't.

Or the bit where he said the Premier league would benefit from our presence ? It certainly would from a crowds and geographical balance perspective, as any objective person would agree. It may not benefit in terms of 'rules' but that's a value judgement - and one re a league where rules are regularly flouted anyway and we've faced the toughest ever penalty meeted out for it.

Or are you unhappy that our Chairman said he has no complaints re our current situation ?

I suspect your reaction here has more to do with being a Harps fan than with what was actually said by PoD

There are suggestions on ILS that the issue around Derry's IFA membership has not yet been fully resolved and even that Friday's match may not count as a league game. I don't believe for a second that it won't get sorted, but interesting nonetheless. Any Derry fans have any insight on this?

It was a Linfield fan (and mod) that brought it up before Mr P commented.

Is the question of Derry's IFA membership holding things up down at the FAI? Rumour has it that there are a few obstacles in the way of derrys membership being approved ;-)

Correct Mr A. I was was only trying to guess what the Linfield supporter was elluding to. Maybe Candystripe to clear it up and confirm that all is rosey.

Was there a doubt? I was't aware of one. But since you are here, can you confirm that the Linfield fan was wrong?

Can you confirm that, last night in the pub, my mate was wrong?
