You'd think though with the absolute awe and respect all these young players have for Roy that he'd have to do is say well done and the player would break his bóllix to get another compliment.
I agree with you... But the fact that they couldn't offload Murphy this year and I recall him getting a couple of new contracts over the last few years lead me to think that Keane set a lot of box's, and if you ticked them all you got more game time and more money than those who didn't, but who would arguably had been better technically. In the hope that said "better" players would follow suit...
I pity the fool!.... But suggest ways that he might improve himself.

bit premature considering it is only the 26th of August?

Garvan needs to impress in training and he'll get his chance. Magilton would take him to QPR (I bet) so all not lost.

I'm sure Garvan will have plenty of suitors if Keane wants rid of him. It certainly won't go down well with the Ipswich fans. This is Keane's last chance as a manager and the signs are not good.

Just on Keane and young players, he sold young striker Jordan Rhodes to Huddersfield, much to the chagrin of the Ipswich fans. He's scored 5 goals for Town in a week, albeit at a lower level, and seems like a class act.

A change of scenery seems like the best option for Garvan. I think most of us here were expecting him to be entering his second or third season as Everton's left-midfielder at this stage...

Magilton wasn't too gone on him from what i heard, but who knows. QPR could be a good team for him, though London might not be.

Just read in the Guardian that he told Alan Quinn, Garvan and Stead that they had no future at Ipswich. Obviously his anti-Dublin bias kicking in again.

Alex Bruce made captain instaed of McAuley, though McAuley likely to remain.

I hope Mowbray is aware of all this.

I think a top Championship club or Celtic would be best for Garvan at this stage, simply because I can't see room for his type of player in an EPL relegation battle.

Fulham under Hodgson would be about as good as he could hope for.

Garvan was linked with Everton a few times before, and Moyes has a history of buying from the Championship, and the club has money to spend after selling Lescott.

Would love to see it but reckon it'll be a Championship club, he's not getting the interest he was and is essentially being shown the door by a club at the bottom of that league. Someone needs to take a punt, the fact that Keane seems to be making it obvious he's surplus to requirements is going to drop any fee anyway. Magilton at QPR would take a punt I reckon, there was one issue between them previously but that was sorted out.

Said in the indo today that Keane wants him to be more agressive and in people's faces, not really Owen's game....

What does that really mean? If you are not an aggressive / in your face kind of player that doesn't actually mean you are not afraid to get stuck into a tackle.
THe idea of a player acting agressive for the sake of it says it all about Keane managerial ability.

Keane's beginning to shape up like a really bad version of Greame Sounsess!

Look at central midfielders players like Alonso and Pirlo (in his prime) - wouldn't call either aggressive. If they were at Ipswich Keane would have probably let them go on a free to Barnet by now

They just spent £10 million on a Russian winger though.

Possibly one of the managers in the Premiership with recent experience in the Championship and limited funds might take a punt on him - Martinez, Coyle, Pulis or McCarthy for instance. I'd say he'll end up at another Championship club myself which could possibly be a good thing and may help to reinvigorate his career. Once he doesn't drop to league 1 any move will probably be a good one. Ipswich are going nowhere under Keane. A more clueless yet at the same time arrogant manager I've yet to see. Some of his transfer dealings this summer have been laughably bad.

Garvan's transfer listed according to the tabloids today anyway so he has a week to seal a move somewhere.

Whatever few marbles that Keane had left from his Sunderland days are gone. It's simply madness to sack three first team player after only 3 games into the season with only 6 days left in the transfer window. As for Garvan, given his lousy start to the season, I wouldn't be holding out for a Premier League move.

hate to say it but maybe garvan just isnt as good as people wanted him to be. we've been here so many times before.

rumours of moves to bigger clubs are just rumours. have a look at the bbc sport website and you will see daily lists of transfer rumours. how many of them actually end up happening?

sorry lads, but if he's not getting serious interest from bigger clubs by now he wont

Andy Scott, who knows the lower Leagues intimately, and is shaping up to be an outstanding manager, signed Rhodes on loan for Brentford last season.
Rhodes was an immediate hit with the fans and Scott was v.keen to sign him permanently, but was outbid by Huddersfield.
I don't know about handling established international stars etc, but I'd trust Scott's judgement about developing young players over Keane's, every single time.
So by extension, Keane's mishandling/undervaluing of Rhodes would tend to make me sympathise with Garvan (even though I know little about the lad).

The new Brian Robson for me! Initial sucess at Championship level fades when players realise the emperor has, in fact, no new clothes at all.

I v.strongly suspect that Magilton has no say whatever in who comes into or departs Loftus Road. (In fact I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't even have the final say over team selection on Saturdays! ).
Club owner Fabio Briatore is notoriously "hands on" at QPR, trusting his "Lieutenant" Gianni Paliadini (a former Agent!) to oversee/arrange all transfers in and out of the club.
In any case, even if Magilton could arrange to get Garvan in, I feel the player should be very circumspect about joining QPR on a permanent contract, since Magilton is liable to get sacked before Keane departs Ipswich (imo).
