    Foot.ie!

Well done to Athenry, the team with the 'poor' defence and 'bad' goalkeeper! Kieran brought off two stunning saves in the second half and the 'poor' defence has only conceded 13 goals in 17 games!

Roll on Tuesday for Part 2 of the double. Corrib Rangers must be favourites as they only need a draw but these Athenry lads can score. Their new strip brings a touch of Barcelona class to the 'Fields'.

Congrats to all involved with Athenry, thats a fair achievement winning it 3 times in 4 years.....just goes to show that 'experience' can make up for a 'poor' defence and a 'bad' keeper........

thanks longshanks, although its funny how we have the best defense in the galway league with only 13 conceded all season, and only 3, maybe 4 goals conceded in the whole Connaught Cup Run.

doesnt strike me as being a poor defence, but we are all entitled to our own opinions

Athenryboy, I wasnt saying anything about yer keeper/defence, just as you mentioned somebody else posted on here about yer 'weaknesses'..... You win nothing with a 'poor' defense and a 'bad' keeper, infact you'd lose more than win no matter how good your attack is. Congrats again, will ye retain it???

sorry longshanks, i got the wrong end of the stick on that post.
I wouldnt even think of looking that far ahead, We have our biggest game of the season sunday against Corrib Rangers to decide the Premier League.

We are 2 points behind after all our games in hand played, (15 behind at one point) and its down to the last game of the season in Athenry on Sunday. Should be a belter!

The celebrations were fairly muted last saturday , which was tough but once this game is over sunday, we'll celebrate, hopefully with another trophy.
