At least Delap and Fahey play in midfield for prem clubs.... if Miller gets called up, its an absolute joke, and serious questions would have to be asked about that! Is he even training with anyone to stay fit?

according to wikipedia miller has been linked with toronto

seriously what the hell is trap playing at? the guy is rubbish and is doing nothing to warrant a place in the irish national team.

he should be like off the radar completely at the moment. not even deserving of a mention.

That rumour was circulating last year.

In fairness to Miller he performed very well against Nigeria. He needs to find a club though if he's to remain in contention.

As said in the past, he must be the best player in training to get as much chances as he's got.

Preston hope to sign free agent Liam Miller this week.
Maybe the Doc has seen him around the place.

Jesus I hope not or we will be subjected to the Doc calling Trap the biggest clown in world football for the next season for not building the midfield around the next big superstar Liam Miller
    Its really not that complicated!!!

Funny, I remember Roy criticizing Staunton for leaving Miller out of the Irish squad, saying that he should be in the starting XI, nevermind the squad!

One of the few things Stan got right I guess!

Id give Staunton more credit for that if Jonathan Douglas wasnt one of the ones that were picked!

I don't recall Douglas ever doing too much wrong in an Ireland Jersey..
I pity the fool!.... But suggest ways that he might improve himself.

You have to do something, to do something wrong.

Selecting Douglas for that game against the Czechs worked well for Staunton.
He rose to the occasion and battled hard to hold his own in midfield.
Nothing more could be asked from Douglas.

He was injured and hardly trained before the Chelsea match so only fit for the bench. He was excellent pre-season and will most likely be in the team for the next game. Reid was Sunderland's best player when he joined, no doubt about it (and Charlton's before that). Last season was a write off even though he played most games for Sunderland. He seems to have sorted himself out in the last couple of months.

I liked the role Bruce gave him in pre season. He was allowed float about the pitch and not stuck to the left wing which doesn't suit him at all.

Considering he has been exiled, Andy would need to be playing for his club in the league to be considered for our game, the squad for the Cyprus game will be announced, next week?
Though the point of this thread is that there is a generous deal of flexibility accorded to Miller.

One major mistake jumps to mind. Was brought on in Slovakia to keep things tight in midfield and then let a guy run past him from midfield where he had a free shot to score. Admitidly O Shea was poor for it too by turning his back on the shot but Douglas couldnt even do the one simple job he was brought onto the pitch to do

If Stephen Reid was fit he'd be a shoe in he is a Trap kind of player and if Ireland(Stephen) returned he would have to be accomodated his composure last Saturday for his goal v Blackburn was off the highest calibre.
Fahey did not look out of place on Sunday at Old Trafford and Chris McCann must be full of confidence after Burnely beat Utd the other night the only thing I'd say is that Trap likes defensive midfielders as it releases Duff and McGeady/Hunt to get forward to support the strikers at times I've sat in croker and from the setup it's like a six at the back, so Fahey may be a bit too creative for Trap's system similiar to Andy Reid.
Whelan and Andrews are grafters who are very limited on the ball people may disagree just my opinion.

On another front I'll give it a month before Jay O'Shea's pink boots which he donned on Sunday get a mention on Soccer A.M.

Baring in mind too, that the role he excelled at, at Charlton was playing a free role supporting Darren Bent...

That question was less stupid, though you asked it in a profoundly stupid way.

Help me, Arthur Murphy, you're my only hope!
