Commentators (Steve Coppell please note) saying that promotion to the Premiership is worth 100 million. How come every team that is relegated is almost broke and just about all clubs are badly in debt. Personally, I think it is a poison chalice unless you are like Burnley and don't spend a fortune to try and stay there.
Forget about the performance or entertainment. It's only the result that matters.

but then there's Wolves and Birmingham, neither of whom spent massively, and stayed up quite comfortably in the end.
West Brom are promoted after one season in the Championship, and in good financial health.

It is worth 100m. You just have to spend 120m.

The overuse of the Dougal Maguire phrase "Ted" after every sentence someone utters, in a mutitude of contexts.

"I'm going to the shop, Ted", "I don't know, Ted", "I'll have a Big Mac Meal and Coke, Ted", "Please don't shoot me, Ted", "I do, Ted",

It was midly amusing for 10 minutes in 1996.

Similarly, I have a friend whose speech consisted almost entirely of D'unbelievables quotes. He still says them an awful lot, I think he's actually forgotten their origins and just thinks he's always spoken that way.

I do have to admit to multiple quoting of Reeves and Mortimer and "11 O'Clock Show" era Ali G in the local boozer many years ago.

Ali to former Conservative Minister for Education: "Do you think Children should be caned at school".

Former Minister: Yes I think so. It never did me any harm

    Ali: Reeeeeeeee-speck Man!! Reee-speck!!

The ones who use them when its not raiining are the worst though! I used to be scared of them myself, felt claustraphobic under them and scared of hurting people with them too, but then I straightened my hair and am more scared of the rain making it curly so got over my fear.

You were one of those people who did Ali G all the time?! So annoying at the time in that accent!

In fairness, I regularly quote from shows like Blackadder, Monty Python, NTNOCN and the Office. Particularly overused are "Suits me Duggie," and "This is an old trick I picked up in the Sudan/"

Posts in match preview threads which consist solely of a match prediction (always a win) and the scorers.

UCD v Barca tonight. I reckon 4-1 UCD; Killer with 2, Billy with a peno and Puyol with an own goal. Can't see us losing to this lot.

On a related theme, peoples match predictions based solely upon a computer game they played on FIFA Manager (sic) between the two teams. I'm just waiting for someones prediction to spill over into a non footballing game scenario.

"We're nailed on to beat Spain 7-5 as thats what the score was in a game of FIFA Manager I played between the two teams last night!!! - Given to score a hat-trick and Keane to be sent off for two yellows which culminates in a manic killing spree!! 4 dead!!! Mark my words!!!!

I would love to see that displayed on the 3D match simulator. With blood.

At dinner, continuing to eat while talking, telling stories or giving opinions, with each sentence of the utterance broken up by a mouthful of food being chewed and swallowed.

Either stop eating and say what you have to say, or shut up and eat.

Just plain old eating with the mouth open drives me demented. If I wanted those sound effects, I'd go to the zoo.
