    Cork`s abundance : our opportunity?

What with all the new arrivals at Cork there will be talented players with Premier experience who are down the pecking order or out altogether.Waterford and Longford too.Just because we don`t have an U-21 side doesn`t mean we can`t avail of everybody elses!I`m off to California for a few days in March/April so I`ll check out the talent over there!

Stevo came to us originally this way and who`s to say that with Mike Kerley at the helm we might sneak away another gem or two from under Noel O`Connor`s nose.I know we have little money but the cash we`ll get from Sweeney and O`Flynn must be spent on rejuvenating and maintaining what`s left of our best squad in years(a fine defence for one-dublin got promoted with little else last season).

John D deserves a bigger turnout for these meetings with the committee for all his efforts for us.From Bray with no car I can`t get down on Tuesday nights- i`m embarrassed to say.Any meetings fri/sat/sun and I`ll be there with as many as can be hooked.

In this new limited company era we have the right to see what is done with the incoming transfer money-this CANNOT be allowed to line the pocket of the committee i.e. to pay off their 30% shareholding. With ltd. accounts we can see this doesn`t happen.I acknowledge that the present committee have pumped in funds into the club in the past but have all 3 of those lads put in 10K?Has anybody bought shares yet?John D said we are looking for 5% - I`d be delighted to chip in for this-is this enough for us to have voting rights or a permanent voice on the committee?.

Are there any season tickets available yet-now`s the time that Mike can use the cash best. Many supporters cannot make it to all the matches but would be happy to buy a season ticket.

Cork`s squad was top-heavy with strikers already but I think Steve O`Flynn has the tenacity and the resolve to take his chance in Cork when anyone`s form dips and good luck to him.

Brendan leaving is a sore one - he was the engine of our fine run last year,he was everywhere, flawless.I think his time will come fast at Cork because of the honesty and guile in his displays.

Both are experienced with youth on their side so barring injury success is inevitable.

There`s astroturf at loughlinstown 10 mins from Bray so the mooted 5-a-side team could play an away game against Bray.If there`s interest during the season let me know and I`ll book it.

We are not owed anything for Sweens...he was out of contract and hadn't been with the club for two full seasons as an under 23. Stevo has been, but sadly I have just realised that one of those seasons was as a loan player from Cork, so I'm not so sure as to the situation on him.Besides, the club broke both players contracts frequently during the course of last season, so who knows what the hell is happening.
