Irish bar in Miami showing Cyprus match

    Hi,

not sure if this is the right place, but was hoping someone might know of a bar in miami that will be showing the cyprus match, for definite.

am on holiday out there and will (obviously) therefore not be attending the match. don't want to turn up at some place that says its an irish bar but won't show the game.

anyone know of a dead cert? i've tried google etc. but found nothing really.

    any help much appreciated.

edit - doesn't have to be an irish bar, any bar showing the match will do!

Was on hols a few years ago in Miami, South Beach. There was an Irish bar just off the beach on the main street, I think it's called Washington Avenue, I remember going to the bar to watch some GAA matches while we were there, so I'm guessing they'll be showing the Ireland match there. As for the name of the pub........ I'm thinking it's the Playwright..but not 100% sure. If you head to South Beach and ask around you'll find it, there's not many Irish bars in that area. I remember it was on the corner of the street too. That's the best I can do for ya.

The Playwright or Waxy O'Connor's (directly across the road on Washington Avenue) are definitely your best bet to see the game in Miami. I watched a couple of English prem games there last November.

It is likely that you will have to pay a $20 cover charge though as the game (along with the English game on the same day) are part of Setanta's "Premium" service which means they enforce a charge on the pubs.

google 'sports bar miami', find a few phone numbers, ring around and ask! i would seriously expect that you have to pay a cover charge of twenty dollars, but hopefully it will be worth it!

my friend's dad lives in miami and when my friend is over he goes to a place called churchill's which apparently shows loads of games, but again will charge you. the most important thing is to ring ahead and check if they are showing the game. churchills is 5501 N.E. 2nd Ave. (305) 757-1807 which is here although it may be a bit of a dive.

p.s. you do realise you are going to miami in the middle of hurricane season?

don't worry, hurricanes aren't that bad, it's just the exceptional ones that make the news. most of the time, it just necessitates you spending one day indoors while the worst of it passes over. the other days, at this time of year, it is fine in the morning, but the afternoon will have a few heavy showers while the evening will be okay too. the showers are brief but intense, but even if you get wet, it is warm and will dry off fairly quickly so its not too bad. the humidity is what will kill you though, and i seriously recommend the car you hire has air conditioning, cos otherwise you are fooked. i spent a week in miami in september a couple of years ago and the weather was really only bad one day and the rest of the time it felt positively tropical. go to churchills to catch games though.

also, drive down to key west for a day. nice town.

For those in the US, Setanta online seem to have confirmed that the game will be available live on their internet service. If you are an annual subscriber this should be included in your package and otherwise they usually they charge about $9.95 for a one-off game.

Setanta i Pay Per View Schedule - All Times ET
Sat 05 Sep 02:25 pm LIVE World Cup Qualifier - Cyprus vs Ireland

Pubs in any half-decent cities will probably have the game live on Setanta Premium as well.
