According to a trial in the States, Microsoft have infringed on another company's patents and now have to suspend sales of Microsoft Word!
Oh, the irony of it all: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technolog...ord-in-US.html
I reckon this judge hasn't a clue about anything related to IT, all he understads is the word "patent". At the end of the day, XML was still relatively new in 1998, but I really cant beleive how microsoft being allowed to create, open and edit XML(when its an opensource standard under GNU or was then I think anyway) files with their word processor is doing something criminal....where was the patent granted? Was it in canada?
Unless im misunderstanding the situation myself, and then I am the stupid one.
