    Alan Murphy Signs For Derry!

Speaking exclusively to soccercentral.ie Gavin Dykes said of his acquisition, "I've been chasing Alan for a long time and was very happy when he agreed to sign for Derry City."

"He is a very special talent - a proven goalscorer and is a player who can only improve."

"Derry legend Liam Coyle retired recently and Alan is the nearest I've seen to Liam in terms of ability and character."

"We've beaten a lot of opposition to get this signature and he'll fit in very well with our set-up" added the Sligoman.

A great signing for the club at least we have a strker who knows where the net is now!

He's well at home in midfield.

Great to see Galway lose their prize asset.

Galway the only way is down.

Derry seem to be going in the right direction with Dykesie. Ye'll have a nice team if ye get Delaney.
Any condescension detected in this post is fully unintentional and is solely the perception of the reader. If I think you're an idiot, I'll tell you that. You won't need to intuit it.

Cracker signing, glad he dropped his ridiculous wage demands. Hopefully we'll also have Delanely by the end of the weekend. Said denite that Delaney wants to go to us, but there's difficulty in getting him released from Pats.

LOL - so it was all a load of rubbish about you not breaking the bank to sign him?

We didnt break the bank...he dropped his demands. He is part-time which suits him as a law student.

"I’m disappointed that Alan’s terms were high but while I rate him as a talented front player, he has yet to prove that in the top flight," said Dykes. "To push the boat out and sign him would be unfair to the players I have at the club and certainly would not have helped matters in the dressing room."

LOL at Dykes... he has no backbone... flexible, he's just took it up the ass....

At Murphy's previous wage demands. Whereas now, with his reduced wages, it isn't being unfair to other players to pay him what he's getting. To have paid him well above what other top players at Derry are getting, considering Alan is only coming from the First Division, would be unfair. But the lower wages aren't.

Read the article again ya eejit.

Best of luck to him, hope he's as big a success as the last striker us and Derry were both after who chose the queens shilling, Padraig Moran....

So from €900 per week for 52 weeks down to what?

Does British law allow for a player to claim back tax for his 10 best years?

I heard Murphy dropped to €700pw (52 week). You sold out, and Dykes took it up the ass....

    He's either unproven or not...

Dont know much about British law, its unfortunate we have to abide by it due to past Individuals like yourself.

I couldnt be bothered to argue with fans from an inferior team anyway.

come out of it... Dyke's statement still holds fast... his trial journey didn't alter that...

no... we told him to take a hike weeks ago and told him to bugger of when he lowered....

wasn't a dig, just want to state that by joining town, he would have been entitled to a Tax rebate which he won't be in Derry because of British Tax Laws. And thus (unless he was ill advised) Derry paid out well over the odds to secure him.

Only the side which you've never beaten when undestracted.

BTW, what does the derry term take your OIL? mean?

    >> Ah come on, Do you seriously think that what managers say to the media (of all groups) is always what they believe? Whose to say it wasn't a very public way of getting a tough bargaining posititon across to Murphy?

    >> I think the best judge of whether we have overpaid or not will be his contribution to the team. Never worry about tax rebates or even the fact that £1 = about €1.60.

Ahhh...basically like it or lump it you have to face it. I think it comes from when parents used to gave thier kids a spoon of cod liver oil which obviously tasted like ****e, but was good for them hence Take your oil.

Can't speak for Xlex, but what's p!ssing me off that you lot were accusing us of spending money we didn't have and saying that we were willing to pay silly money for the lad... Turns out it was the opposite way round, and Dykes is sticking close to his previous form in that regard....

yeah, that's pretty much my pain... I had hoped that the little cnut would be a galway player and send out a signal that eL clubs weren't easy pray for cash... alá Drogs...

See once none of the Dublin clubs, weren't interested then Murphy terms should have been closer our aims then his... but I doubt it... Dykes took it up the arse on that count . A very public "Murphy in dykes come and get me" plea would have thought that git a lesson. and he would have issued it if Derry had pulled their tongues in off they street when he came home... If Dykes had finished with Murphy why even go to the papers, don't think Matthews did as much.... Without knowing the terms, I'd

Just to clarify for you rural boys

I was at the fans forum last night in Derry.......Murphy was signed on a good deal.........a good deal for Derry, we did not accept his earlier demands and we got him at a reasonable wage this time.
