with 747 you cant be sure your even going to land at the right airport or they could cancel the whole thing when its too late to book anything else.

You're as well off without them. Inept does not even get close to describing 747.

Paying E410 for travel and E7-ish for accommodation for the entire week!

Agent travel is ridiculously expensive, even allowing that you'd be staying in a B&B!

There's a little diagram of the venue on the back of the tickets but I have no way of transferring that into an email (i.e. scanning or something like that).

    The Youth Hostel á Giljanesi

The Youth Hostel á Giljanesi is located between the villages Sandavágur and Midvágur on the island of Vágar. It has a great view
over the southern islands and only 10 min. walking distance to both nearby villages, where you can find post office, bank/ATM
    and shops.

Arriving from the airport the youth hostel is only a 10 min. buss ride away. There is a buss in connection with every flight, and you
just tell the driver that you want to get of at the hostel.

Arriving with buss from Tórshavn or other parts of the country, do not get of at the first stop in Sandavágur, but again tell the
driver that you want to get of at the Youth Hostel. It takes 45 min. by buss from Tórshavn to Á Giljanesi

    Facilities:

    - Eight small rooms with 1,2,3 or 4 beds.
    - Fully equipped guest kitchen.
    - Big living room with dining tables, sofas and TV.
    - Nice and clean new bathrooms.
    - Space for camping
    - Buss and taxi service

    Prices:

    - Camping 60 kr. per person
    - Shared room 140 kr. and 120 kr. for members
    - Single room 220 kr. and 200 kr. for members
    - Double room 350 kr. 300 kr. for members

We offer discounts for groups and for children.

You are welcome to bring your own sheets or sleeping bag, but you can also rent sheets from us for 50 kr.

We do not ask for a deposit when you make reservations!
But if you have made reservations and for any reason cannot come, we kindly ask you to please write or call us to let us know - even if it is last minute. Thank you.

I just saw this on another site. A shame about the standard of the beer but them not being able to kick out drunks is definitely in our favour.

    Faroe Islands
Some of the worst beer in the developed world- tasteless, sharp, acidic, and very over-priced. Still, the locals don’t let get in their way of oblivion, so good luck to them! For years alcohol was strictly rationed on these rocky outcrops, and with good reason – the lack of genetic variety has obviously hampered their ability to process the booze (this is especially true amongst the Inuit population, who share a genetic trait with those of oriental descent that does affect the body’s processing of alcohol).

Couple this with a strange, yet entertaining law, that prevents bars from ejecting drunken customers, this provides every bar with it’s very own cabaret show. Which is handy, seeing as there’s only 3 proper pubs in the whole of the capital city! One legacy of the prohibition days are “key clubs” – local hideaways for fisher-folk, described by Tom Small and Maurice as “something out of Star Wars”. Stories also abound of the locals “coming out of the trees” in the early hours armed with bottles of vodka and whisky, although the more cynical of us suspect that this may be a case of the DT’s. Class, pure class. Special respect is due for the ability to get so drunk on such poor beer.

I read that before. Its sounding more and more like something out of Father Ted. Keep getting this strange mental picture of locals hiding in trees with bottles of Vodka, brilliant. i can not wait

What are the bets that that law will be repealed after the Ireland match?

I sent a query off to Heidi in the Smyril Line Office about the Faroese currency. As ever she was very helpful. Here's what she had to say:

I can understand the confusion, but the Faroese Krona is the same currency as the Danish Krona - we are a part of Denmark and thus we use their currency. So you will get by just fine with Danish money.

It's just as well we have a reliable source as the banks I had asked here about it hadn't a clue.
