Malev were the cheapest, then Alitalia...then it is a free for all.
Also the scheduled flights arrive in the middle of the night 3-5am. (Must be a security thing.) but this messes up your accomodation, do you book for that night or do you stretch it out until midday. But the same thing will apply going back, do you book for the day for when you are leaving the middle of the night.
Anyway, getting a charter flight is proving a bit difficult at the moment. The killer with travelling alone on the charter package is the single room supplement. It is pricey enough without another €70-90 !!!!!
What seems to be happening is that the flight + hotel (€760 - €1000 incl taxes) deals are not selling, so they have stopped selling seat only(€620-€670), until they sell all their rooms(Celtic Horizon, their website is saying it is sold out !). This is where I am stuck at the moment, a few people are saying to me that to leave it until the last minute as you may have a better chance of getting a seat and a better deal.
Also still awaiting confirmation on my ticket from the FAI,hopefully next week

If you hear anything let us know
I going on my own as well, Most of my friends though i was crazy I look at several airlines and some were upto four stop over, all trips were greater than 1000 euro until i came accross an Isrealli airline www.elal.co.il and the cost of tickets 500 euro's from heathrow to Tel Aviv & shannon to Heathrow curtous of aer Lingus . I just look at the web site the cost is rising ~750 euro's now. I'm staying in the Hostel near Dizengoff square. 5 mins from the Beach . I heading to Jersulem for three days to check it out. With the costs the flights & distance, might as well see sights before the game. I'll be back in Tel Aviv on friday before their Sabeth. I definately be at the beach party on the friday.

    Israel Game

Thanks anyway Eldad, for the offer, hotel is booked, match tickets should come next week if the Israeli FA have sent them. The had not arrive before today.

    donalfitz
That is a great price flying from Shannon to Tel Aviv, is that return?? You must have book well in advance.
Today the prices flying El Al are over €775 and that does not include taxes and the flight to London from Dublin.
It is getting the stage where a package, even paying the ridiculous single person supplement is now cheaper than a booking your own flights

Return flights £256 with EL AL before taxes & charges over a week ago. i booked in the nick of time. I had the same price option over several days within a week either side of the match day.
Like most other airlines the price increased to the day of departure.

    Operation Green Invasion

    Hi Kobby,

I read your interview in " The Star " a few days ago and was very excited and impressed with what you had to say. Irish fans will come to Israel with open minds and will not be expecting to see solely what the newspapers and TV choose to feed us. We will respect your country and people and know that these feelings will be returned to us ten fold. It is great to hear that Tel Aviv is planning a huge welcome for us which will include a massive beach party on Friday 25th March.

    Please answer the following questions:

Q~ Which currency will be the most convenient for Irish visitors to bring; U.S dollars, Euro or NIS?

Q~ Should we carry our passports with us at all times when in Tel Aviv?

Q~ Will we notice any disruption to services eg. restaurants, bars, shops, taxis etc closed or not available during Thursday to Sunday as your weekend and day of rest is different from ours in Ireland?

Q~ Do most of Tel Aviv's bars and especially night clubs really stay open very late? Start filling up at around 12.00 midnight and go on until 4.00~5.00am?

Q~ Is the Sheraton Hotel centrally located and within easy reach of all the action?

    THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP

Read back through the thread here and you'll get most of your answers.

Surely best to bring the local currency.

I believe the Sheraton is on the beach in Tel Aviv where the action is. From memory it seems like we'll hav eplenty of bars restaurants etc on friday and saturday in Tel Aviv. That is the weekend and sunday is a working day.

    Foot.ie! A. for nolanone

First thanx for your warm thought and feelings...
To your question one by one...
1.If I were Irish coming to TLV i would get my currency - EURO and why?
you will lose money in converting euro to N.I.S at Dublin and lose twice if you convert to dollar and then to N.I.S.
It is very very easy and there is many many changing point next to hotel on Ben-Yhouda St. and H'YARKON st. where most of hotels are at Tel-Aviv that change with no commission and my advise is to browse well so you will get the best value for your money!
Do not change at Banks (bed rate and high commision..) not!!! in airport couse that is realy lousy rate...
2.Look I dont know to tell you if you have to carry your passport, but when i travel i carry my passport/driving licens to where ever i go...
3.The holy day here is Sat. Due all of the pubs, night clubs, bars open 24/7 and a lot of kiosk open 24/7 so you will be able to get food and drink..
Some of the shops will be closed only on Sat.
4.Yes!!! on top of that you will attend the best night of the year the holyday of Purim where it is the best ever partys , you will see at the st. peaple all dressed up with coustmes and dance all night long...the only annoying fact, is that weekend the entrence fee for clubs sky rocket to around 20 - 30 Euro per person...(usually around 15 euro..)
check for partys at the special offers on the special time-out magazin that the city sponcer for you for free!!!! you will be able to pick it up at the airport or your hotel
    5. The Sharton is at a prime loction and by the wey he won this year Orange prize from the city for best service at 5 hotel stars...

    Yours
