Have Boot Disk, will travel
I see some Northern Ireland fans have been stung with the English FA moving the kick off time for their match in England to late evening from 15:00. Many have flights booked out to the Poland away match on the following Wednesday and now can't get back to Belfast or London for their flights.Originally Posted by davros
Just spoke to Nicola at e travel , stand up charter caneclled I'm afraid but they are still doing trip for same price using the metropolitan hotel which looks decent on internet . E travel no. is 408 1900
Yep,StandUp... fell through but we didn't suffer,we've been rebooked no problem.Thepeoplesflag.com have said they have learned from mistakes and despite losing a few hundred, they will be persuing a similar venture for the Faroes game.
its great that they were upfront about it, some travel ops waited till a few days before the trip to say they were not going
I booked a couple of days ago, does this mean I have to start looking for different ways to get there?![]()

I would consider myself pro-Palestinian and interested in Palestine. I'm travelling to Israel and Palestine in March both for the match and learn more about the situation and strenghten my own agruements about why Israel needs to leave Palestine. Just some reminders

I spent over three weeks in both countries over Christmas and New Year (Great trip thanks for asking). There is no question that Palestinians suffer daily harassement and humiliation from the soliders and police at hundreds of checkpoints and barriers in the West Bank and Gaza.
When I go back I want to challenge in a respectful dignified manner both soliders and police in Israel and Palestine about their behaviour. Foreign football supporters who spend a short time in a place can demand a little bit more from the authorities than a Palestinian who if arrested at a demonstration will get a 6 (six) month prison sentence guaranteed plus a real threat of never working in Israel again.
Israel isn't my first choice holiday destination but whilst I'm there I intend to question abuses.
When I was there before I met up with numerous foreign Volunteers with the International Solidarity Movement who sees themselves as committing to the Palestinian cause. But they know they have to enter Israel to do that.

While I echo your sentiments, I feel you are being a brave man if you intend approaching any Israeli person over the situation there. Most Irish people wouldnt enjoy an Israeli coming to Ireland and questioning what has gone on in this country.Originally Posted by HarpoJoyce

In reply JamPM I'm asking Officers of the state to justify their actions. I'm not about to embarass ordiniary citizens ( although bear in mind that most Israeli citizens between 18 and 54 serve for 3 weeks every year in the armed services.)
Because my team is playing in Israeli, I hope to follow them out there. While I'm there I don't expect to sit idlily by. I want to ask
1.) Why do children have to be harmed for Israel to prosper?
www.electronicintifada.net/v2/article3180.shtml
2.) If Israel wants to be part of the International Community ( as seen by current Holocaust Commemorations) why doesn't She uphold International Law inc. 4th Geneva Convention " Protection of Civilians in Time of War"?
ap.ohchr.org/documents/E/CHR/resolutions/E-CN_4-RES-2004-10.doc
3.) Why does other people have to suffer for Israel to feel safe?

Whether I'm in Israel or Palestine I'll meet Israeli police and soliders, Irish supporters have a unique oppurtunity to press the questions the whole world have been asking but get no response. Fans can also learn for themselves the thinking behind the Israeli actions.
But at the same time fans can learn from Palestinians first hand what they have to put up with every single day. Where journeys are broken up are have to be abandoned by the countless checkpoints and barriers. And they can see for themselves the grotesque physical obstructions put in place by Israel.

ok....im sorry for the speling mistakes because im so angry.
What are you smoking man?!?!?!!?!?
Lets start will some fact's about the situation :
1. All the Israeli army want's is to keep the israeli people safe.
If the palestiniens will try to start bombing ----> they will go into the cities and will kill the terror people.
Lets see here: between the first "intifada" ( around 1989 ) and the second "intifada" , the Palestinies didn't want to have war with us and they didn't try to kill israeli people ( only in 1996 they tried sevral times ).
When they didn't try the Israeli army didn't go to their cities and didn't kill noone . But in 2001 , they started and wanted to kill Israeli citizens.
When they didn't try to kill us , the army didnt do anything to them because thethe Israeli army dosn't want to kill !!! !
Now, Abu-Mazan is trying to take control after Arafat died....And Israel is giving him all the support....and look at the result's : one of the quietest weeks in the last 4 years in the fighting area ( around gaza ).
conclusion : the history showed us that when the palestines didn't try to kill Israeli citizens....the army didn't kill anyone .
The palestines were offerd several times a country but they didn't want the offer. Now you will say :" Israel offerd them peanuts" . LOL that BULLSH*T because now they wish they will have that.
If you would like to continue this conversation please tell me what instant message software you are talking with, because this thread is not about the Israeli-Palestien conflict.
I'll be brief, but first I'm annoyed about quotes in the reply above which may suggest they're attributed to me they're not. And its a concern of mine.Originally Posted by the_bonk
The reply quoted is a bit fractured but I'll reply anyway. This thread is about the destination and all that involves.
I want to keep this discussion tied to what oppurtunities are available to Irish fans next March. In between, drinking beer, falling and the games there's a chance to learn.
Irish representatives inc. fans can stand up and question the motives of security forces. Simple restrained quotes and questions can travel round the world. But, always in a respectful and dignified manner because its on behalf of others and ourselves.
And not have a situation when Switzerland played in Ramat Gan ( 09 October 2004) while the largest attack on civilian targets in four years was taken place in Gaza during Operation " Days of Penitence/Repentence".
http://www.btselem.org/ - An Israeli Human Rights group.
The match normalised and legitimised Israel in the International community.
The Swiss only brought approx. 50 fans so perhaps they were in a position to question. I don't want that to happen to Ireland.
Just as there are Israelis concerned with the fate of Palestinians so in Ireland people are interested too.

Yes, please note this is a FOOTBALL forum for irish football fans!! this thread is for fans travelling to israel, i do not think it will be appreciated that it is abused in the way it is , encouraging people to stage some protest or attempt to annoy the security forces in israel, ireland is well-known for peaceful and fun-loving fans. yes it is a good opportunity for fans to see for themselves( don't think tel-aviv will give much insight into the palestinian's plight thoughwhat israel is like. i do not think a football game especially in a optimistic atmosphere in israel is the time or the place to interfere, no matter what our opinion is, it might not take much to stir up trouble among opposition fans( who come to ireland soon after that game). why risk giving our nation such a bad reputation? find other ways to broadcast your views, maybe dahamsta should watch out for people hijacking the forums for irrelevant purposes such as politics(irish and israeli!) etc. yes, the bonk is right, it is not the place, thank u for your consideration, i hope u can both debate on messenger or something. please think twice, do not use israel as a platform for protest. what if we were docked points for trouble or something?
I think that is a great opportunity for you to learn about the Israeli-Palestinian problem.
But when you learn it, try to understand the Israeli side also... It is very easy to think about the Palestinian pain only.
If you stay in Israel for more then a few days, try to visit in a Kibbutz - it is a very unique experiance.
well done tuff paddy, glad you agree, i hate all that sh1te![]()
