If you went to the match in Theran, and youve still got the same passport (ie the visa etc is still in it)... well I'd try and get a new one before you go to Israel.
Been on ebay looking for a second hand flak jacket, no joy.

No way Israel will make 1K. These p*ss ups near home on a weekend will always get the part-timers over. Anyway, for all the talk of the fans in Paris what about the 500 Faroes supporters! I think I heard on Sky that they have a population of 50K. That means one per cent of the population were in Ireland on Wednesday night.Originally Posted by Beavis

true and 10% of that would have been made up of players, manager-trainers, etc.
Plus the fact it is Easter weekend!Originally Posted by Beavis
Not sure if it is true but heard recently that FAIrleand have indicated to Israelis that they are only likely to require 600 tickets.
No problem with having Iran visa getting into Israel. The problem is getting into some Arab countries with an Israeli stamp on passport (which is why Israelis will provide stamp on a separate sheet so it is not permanently on your Passport).Originally Posted by cfdh_edmundo

Hope they cleaned it if it didn't work....
Have Boot Disk, will travel
Not sure if mentioned previously but Czech Airlines fly from Glasgow via Prague for 300 quid to Tel Aviv.

Hi friends,
I just discovered this fantastic forum & I realy love it
My name is Eldad and I'm an Irish citizen who live in Tel-Aviv (I was born here, but my dad has immigrated from Dublin)... So ask me whatever you want to know about Israel, or specificly about Tel-Aviv.
I promise I'll be in the green stands in Ramat-Gan stadium at March!
I just started my "research" about how to purchase tickets for the Irish stands in Tel-Aviv (because here I can't do that)... So if you know how to help me, I'll would be grateful!
See you on March !!!

Shalom El Echem, Eldad (Hopefully that's right ).
Welcome to this board. Always interesting to find more far-sprung members of the Irish diaspora here. If you're after a ticket for the Irish end, try the FAI at info@fai.ie for tickets for this game (passport number should secure a ticket). Won't be going myself but was in the Bloomfield Stadium 20 years ago when Ireland first played in Tel Aviv. Great country: Shame about your prime minister there (sorry if any offence, but I was born in England and you're welcome to diss the present PM here to your heart's content ).

Thank you Lopez,
We are more than 10 people that plan to join the green fans, some of them don't hold an Irish passport...
BTW, about cheap flight:
If someone of you would like to arrive from London or Manchester, just be informed that Turkish Airlines operate very frequent flight between Istanbul and Tel-Aviv, and that's a very good airlines (I flow with them to Singapore). They have flight between Istanbul to London and Manchester.
If need more help about flight to Israel, I know all airlines that fly to here because I work in the Airport!
BTW, any of your friends descended from Cork people? Conchita (the quare one/ball and chain/love of my life/air that I breath/wife ) comes from an area in the city where there used to a large Jewish Community but they all either went to Israel or the States when she grew up there.

More important information:
The game will be at Saturday evening.
Be aware of there is no public transportation (apart of taxis) from Friday (at about 4:00pm) to Saturday (at about 6:00pm), because of the importance of the rest day (Saturday) for the Israeli people. Sunday is a regular day in Israel.
I'm sorry... I don't know anyone from CorkOriginally Posted by lopez

Eldad, any information is useful but I am sure you will appreciate there is not likely to be any great demand for using buses around Tel Aviv. At times, we paddies can be thick, but not that stupid!Originally Posted by Eldad

Eldad can you let us know when/where the U21 game is likely to be? If it is the Friday (assume it has to be) then will it kickoff befo0re sundown on the Sabbath.
Even the kickoff time for the Swiss U21 game and venue would be a help.
Had an idea that the Shabbat (lived in Hendon briefly; worked for three years in Golders Green) would be a prob re shops but didn't know the whole country shut down. I avoided Saturday on my visit there so had no experience. That means no bars from sunset Friday to sunset Saturday. Next you'll be saying that you can't pick up a Galty style Pig-fest breakfast for love nor money!

Well, we have to wait till March for knowing the final desicion for the u-21 teams match... But Israel u-21 usually play in the stadium of Herzliyya, which is about 10 minutes drive north of Tel-Aviv.Originally Posted by gspain
You don't need to be worry about Shabbat. All restrants, places of entertainment & some shops at city centre are open in Shabbat!
Tel-Aviv is called "a non-stop city" because the city centre is active 24 hours a day. Friday night is the night when when young Israel used to be drunken in pubs. Ben-Yehuda St' is a street of pubs, there you can find some Irish pubs.
