    Hi Folks,

Have been reading this thread for the last few months (only decided to register now!). Myself and another from Pats are travelling at least, and possibly another couple depending on March paydays etc!

Would like to thank eldad and the bonk for priceless info and look forward to what will no doubt be a fascinating trip. we are going with AC DUB and the stand up trip.

There is more useful info on the city on the tel aviv thread of virtualtourist.com. Very friendly the locals!! Gargle is cheap!!!!!

Now im really ( !!! ) not trying to insult anybody here , but I have to ask this:
Do you have a "heavy" accent , like the same as the english that people from Scotland speak ? ( do know how to spell accent , hope you understand )
Sorry for the rude question, I was just wondering

We can't even understand each other, hence the "troubles."
We're great at sign language though.
We point at a beer tap, make a drinking from a glass gesture and hold up the number of fingers which indicates the quantity we require.

We do more singing than talking, in fact, some people believe they're one and the same thing in Cork.

Bonk I think you will find that we all have different accents when you meet us depending on what part we are from.

You'd be amazed how many people can't tell the difference.

Our accent is different from Scotland. When i was in collage, It took me two week to understand what donegal people and South Kerry people (opposite ends of the country) are saying. I had one guy from south kerry who spoke with a grunt voice and speak slower(or relaxed) than most and donegal was garble and talk faster . When I first meet them I though i would have a better chance of understand dog language . I was unlucky, that i had to share a house with these two lads who were had the extremes of accents from their own counties. It was like learning two new languages in a foreign country. There might as well be indian, russian and german in the household. After the first month i became the translator for them.
We had no problems communicating in the Pub.
But as peader says, sign language work best. It a simple but effective method, especially when your'e at the back of the pub and need a few pints. Just nod at the barstaff for attention, and sign your order. By the time you get to the bar. Order is ready.

the_bonk, don't worry irish people are easier to understand than the scots, u might struggle to understand a few people from Cork or Belfast, but just slap them and tell them to slow down......

Us men will ever need to say a word. Our great "ability to sign" has never let us down in the past.

I'm usually more focused on the football and don't go to away games on the pull but you girls are pushing me real hard to turn on the charm in Tel Aviv.
