Well done to PK for the response and to you for the original post.

A semi final should not have a home town ref ie. a dub ref. I know on certain weekends its impossible not to have a Dub ref in charge of a game involving a Dub team.

So many of our players are being booked/and s/f as a result of bad refereeing who get an automatic suspension, can this not be reversed by the OFFICIAL?

So many bad decisions at Showgrounds this year it does want to make some folk not come back. Then there is the Lino that runs straight to the tunnel because he has made so many bad decisions he cant bear the abuse, then who was the ref at the Pats game?

edit:R W unlikely to be welcome back to Showgrounds soon..

I am amazed that there seems to be an air of goodwill to Pat Kelly. I contacted him months ago about Winter and his reply was the same in other words it is a standard reply. The guy is payed to do his job and the fact that he says he is happy with the situation says it all. When I contacted him months ago about Winter he had not been at the game either and I wonder is he just depending on the morons that report back to him about thier friends performances. I think we are gone soft on him because he pushes the send button on a standard reply.
Perhaps it is time to contact Delany at the FAI to investigate the shocking standard at which Winter operates, the guy is a loose cannon and he gets a kick out of giving out cards instead of trying to prevent them.

Didn’t Alan Kelly get 6 weeks for a bad decision in a game last season? handed down by Daddy!

I think the way it works is (or supposed to work), you are marked on your performance anything under a 7 is poor and you will be dropped/suspended, if you have a major **** up its a 6 week ban repeat offences would warrant demotion or deboot.

winters was de-moted to fourth official status for 3 games after he sent cook off in drogheda earlier this year, maybe it was pay-back time.

This isnt the case, the lino nearest to the dressing rooms at the final whistle must proceed to the tunnel and remain there until everyone is in off the pitch. He/she does this so someone has a full view of everyone, if there is any trouble e.g. between players going down the tunnel, players and officials coming off the pitch etc... It Happens in every league now.

Thank you for the kind comments. With regard to your friends not going to the matches because of refereeing decisions. We may not always agree with their decisions and have our own opinions on them but all the decisions are in the opinion of the referee and that’s what counts. However our referees have received excellent reports in their FIFA and UEFA matches over the past 5 seasons and go from strength to strength. I hope you will take me up on my offer in the near future as it will give you a better insight into our refereeing structure. Maybe your new born will one day end up as a referee. Who knows. I never thought my Sons would follow me into refereeing and I followed my Father into refereeing also. Best of Luck with the New Arrival and keep in touch.
    Best of Luck.

    Pat.

people saying here that his first message was standard reply but a follow up shows that maybe he is willing to listen to the supporters and that can be only a good thing !!!

Doesn't really show that he's willing to change anything though. In fact if you look beyond his attempting to keep you sweet by wishing you luck with the new born he's actually just defending the refs and is attempting to say things are improving when clearly they're not!

Same old b0110x from PK - reffing has not improved or if i was cynical would say it has improved but then the refs we are getting are biased?

    Nothing will change!

If you were super cynical you could say that refs/officials could subsidise their allowance by having a bit of a flutter on a match. It would be interesting to see if any of them had an account with betfair

See that our friend Herr Winter was flashing the red cards at Galway last night, two I think, love to hear any comments from Galway or Longford on his performance.
