R.I.P. Sir Bobby.
"We didn't underestimate them. They were just a lot better than we thought."
A true legend. R.I.P.
Tallaght Stadium Regular
A true gentleman. Full stop. RIP
Football is poorer for his passing.
Great football man will be sadly missed.
Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
Was obviously manager of England for two of the biggest games in our history at Euro 88 and Italia 90 when we played against them. Much as they'll always be 'the auld enemy' even back then I always had all the time in the world for Bobby Robson, a true football man, a great manager and a true gentleman. We'll rarely see his like again. His involvement with Ireland as part of the ill fated Steve Staunton reign before illness caught up with him was obviously limited but in the time he was involved he showed that his inherent dignity and love of the game remained intact. The FAI should hang their heads for putting him out on radio to take the flak after the San Marino debacle.
Genuinely saddened to hear this news much as we all knew it was coming. RIP Bobby, you'll be sorely missed.
Sad news. Always conducted himself with decorum. A true legend of the game.
Sad to see him go. Was a great ambassador for his country and his sport.
Always look on the bright side of life
Way up on the list of the great football managers.
A true football man who loved the game. Admired and respected by all in football.
Up there now in the Big House chewing it over with Busby, Stein, Shankly, Clough and Ramsey.
He will be missed. RIP
Honest! I am not a secret Tim nor a closet Sham - I really am a Seagull.
R.I.P Bobby, always put a smile on peoples faces
Only another 9 titles till Drogheda become pride of county louth!!!
Very sad news, a true gent & a footballing great
Never did a football man warrant the "Sir" title more than Bobby Robson, for what he gave to people on and off the football field. A gentleman at all times despite his numerous personal battles with illness.
Despite his tenure with Ireland being limited and brief , i was truly honoured to have the great man involved with us.
I only hope that the Croke Park crowd give a rapturous round of applause in honour of his memory before the italy game.
Like everyone here, i am truly saddened at his departure.
R.I.P Sir Bobby.
R.I.P Bobby Robson.A legend.I remember him in charge of Barca back in 98/99.They won the league AND the old Cup winners Cup in the same season but he still got sacked.
He was at that game played for him only last Sunday,he didnt look good obviously but i thought he had awhile left yet.
Nothing but respect for Sir Bobby, a wonderful ambassador for the game...
'Fascists dress in black and go round telling people what to do, where as priests.....'
RIP Sir Bobby.
youngirish: "I'm nearly always right about young players (it's frighteningly accurate)..." :)
Yes. Nothing more to be said than RIP Sir Bobby.
RIP - A true legend and great character. His passion for football was immense,
Not least loved for his disdain of Gary Neville......

RIP. Funnily, with all the programs on Setanta etc. about him recently, I got the feeling that these were final trbutes.
Bobby was pure football and no pretensions.
