I definitely read something to this effect. 1965 or 66. Lost to a Gerd Mueller goal in extra time. Maybe it was the last 16, not quarters ? Any Rovers fans confirm ?

Rovers only appear in the european cup twice in the 60's.
1959/60 season Round 1 Beaten 4-3 by Nice
1964/65 season round 1 beaten 5-0 by Rapid Vienna

Waterford united in th 1970/71 season beat Glenthorn 4-1 in round 1
got knock out by Celtic 10-2 in round 2.

Rovers never got past the first round of the European Cup. They did run Bayern close in the Cup Winners Cup in 66 though... drew 1-1 at home and lost 3-2 away. I think they led 2-1 away too.

Drumcondra actually beat Bayern 1-0 in 62.. they had lost the first 6-0 though
