    Laptop won't start up.

    It's a 1 year old Dell.
I get as far as typing in my password and then it says welcome and I get the blue screen with background with the welcome sign revolving but no icons come up.Any ideas?

Something similar was happening to my girlfriends a while back, also a Dell, I got a can of compressed air and gave it a clean out and it's been fine ever since. That's the best case scenario.

Edit- It won't start up in safe mode,I'm running the start up repair again to see if it'll help-I ran it earlier for about 3 hours and nothing was different after it.

So, it's logging in but all your desktop icons are missing?

Probably a problem with explorer.exe - you could try a defrag, or running a check disk scan for hard drive errors (Start -> Run, type "chkdsk") I doubt safe mode will do anything, it's not likely to be a driver issue.

Tons of stuff on google for this in any case.
