The deadline shouldn't be extended for Cork, takeover possibility or not...

It's all hearsay, no source credited or even hinted. Just pure speculation I'd say, there's a number of extensions to deadlines allowed under the submissions process and with the FAI looking to throw the book at Tom/CCFC I can't see them approving the Licensing Committee extending the deadline once again, takeover or no takeover.

Sloppy interpretation of the statements from RTE there I reckon. Quintas have clearly denied that there's an agreement in response to the statement from Tom, released apparently from the email address he and his people have been using according to the administrator of the Cork forum. They haven't just suddenly threatened to pull out. Agree though that they should be out of time once and for all.

At this stage it would be a disgrace if the FAI extend licensing. Teams need to prepare for matches in 2 and a half weeks time and they need to know their opposition. A fixture list needs to be produced and marketing and some good PR about the league needs to happen. Supporters need to know if their team is at home or away for their first match.
We at Bray are also effected and are in limbo - it is a totally different proposition preparing a team for the Premier or First divisions!!
I think that Derry supporters would also be rightly agrieved if Cork have a Premier licence after how swiftly and clinically they were dealt with last year!

They desperately want Cork in the Premier but there has to come a point where you say that it's too late. Blame Tom's stupidity. When is the committee meeting? There is no way in hell they should consider information that might come in in the future. Even tomorrow morning should be too late for a properly independent licensing committee. Us and Shels to name just two clubs never had anything like that kind of leniency when we had our own problems. Nor would we get it now and in fact got nothing like it this year. We had a few quid to pay by the 29th and were told if we didn't pay it that day we were gone no further deadlines. The double standards gets to you when it's so blatant.

The scenario is quite clear, if Quintas come on baord, Cork will have a premier licence. Now while i wouldn't wish TNB on anyone, not even Cork, for the greater good of the whole LoI i believe Cork have to be in, at least, the first division next year so for that reason alone, i'm hoping this deal doesn't happen.

Fans of every club except for Cork should agree with me on that, while still acknowledging how much of a scumbag TNB is.

Quintas are not involved in the takeover ,they are just the facilitators between all 4 party's...this is all going to the wire because he wants the 100K from the Kevin Long transfer released by the FAI as his pay off

Is anyone else just completely and utterly bored to fcuking tears with the whole Cork City farce now.....?!?

It's been left to drag on and on and on and on for so long now that it's beyond a joke. A running, weeping sore that continually infects the image of the whole league, week in week out. At least the City situation got sorted out swift-time.

A new supporter-run club in the First Division would seem to me the best outcome here for Cork, the league and the FAI over all.

But whatever the outcome the soap opera just needs to come to an end.

This is the most sensible, decent and honourable outcome, but only if there was any sense in the situation. But the "lure" of European football, the wish to hang on in the Premier Division and the perceived "shame" of restarting in the First is driving normal, sane people who wouldn't run a business in such a way into the arms of destruction. When it all boils down, the new entity, if or when it comes about, will behave the same as the old as they are without cash (having spent it all trying to rectify the mess) and within a short period of time we're back at square one. As soon as I heard people speaking about "turning corners" I knew it was over. Keep turning corners and you're back where you started.

Who is ashamed of starting in the first division, go back a few pages and read micls's post!
It's more "honourable" to start again than look to honour debts? This site is full of the exact opposite opinion.
You know we're heading into "the arms of destruction" because Of geometry? What if we only turn two corners, and then moonwalk in a curve?

What I've quoted is one of the most pointless posts I've seen on this thread.
The Malta updates were handy while they lasted alright, bit since.....m'eh.

Well Steve, if only TnB was as honourable as your lot then it'd all have been sorted long ago but he isn't so what can we do.
If you just take your own languor, annoyance, anger and tears for that matter and multiply that by 100 and you might not still be within a Premier Division Licence of how I feel.

I'd like the whole sorry mess sorted either way today.

At this stage, it should be out of the hands of anyone to do with Cork. Talk of wanting to honour the debt etc is all very well, but it shouldn't be an issue - if the final deadlines are missed then Cork City shouldn't be getting a licence. If todays deadline wasn't enough to concentrate minds, what's another few days going to do? Also, the "Independent" Licencing Committee should be telling the new consortium what to do with the gun they're trying to put to their head.

Licencing has long been a farce, with different rules applying to different clubs (even in the same round of licencing). However, this whole debacle has surely killed off any remaining credibility it had. Which is a pity, as it looked like it was finally getting to grips with the unrealistic budget issue. 1 step forward, 10 steps back.

Again, nothing to add but nonsense. Just because someone doesn't agree 100% , question what is happening and is against throwing good money after bad, I expected better from you tiktok, especially as you seem to avoid any number of people who are more than a little disgusted by the manner in which the licencing process that hammers other clubs is allowed to be altered just to keep a club of some sort in Cork. In the fullness of time you may well reflect on what you say. All power to FORAS and their co-investors, if they can get around the rules go for it, but karma (as Tom and co will experience) has teeth.

Edit: On the topic of Maltese info, in the weekend's Malta Today (Maltese) the club Treasurer backed the takeover as it means Floriana will finally see compensation for Cork City's illegal signing of Roddy Collins. The case with CAS will proceed against CCIFL and Roddy Collins should the minimum amount of compensation not be forthcoming (it's somewhere on the thread). Plus phonecalls to Cork City (Liam Meaney was mentioned) were going to message minder last week. A club rep was speaking to Irish radio last week, they stated.
