Yeah, that was probably it, I recall ACTUAL points totals being mentioned before the start of the season, that must be them
There was something about a sliding scale of a points deduction for going into examinership. Along the lines of starting off with 10 points, and then an extra 3 points deducted if you paid off half your debts, going to an extra 20% if you paid none of your debts. Is that what you're thinking of?

"Billy Corgan, Smashing Pumpkins."
"Homer Simpson, smiling politely."
Cork have been on the brink of liquidation. Their punishment, if indeed the FAI has the cojones to follow through, is going to be under the 65% wage cap. Ditto for the other clubs messing with wages. It certainly doesn't seem to be enough right now, whether because of enforcement of what.
You can't spell failure without FAI
It'd be typical alright!!!We're starting to feel a bit left out with all this talk of clubs going bust and not being able to pay their wages. That was our original party piece. These days bar the uncertaintly surrounding the ground we've become a boring well run club who pay their wages on time. Very unshels like

The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.
I don't know what the league regulations state, if at all, about points deductions being a possible sanction for any possible irregularities at Cork.
But a 10 point deduction could mean absolutely nothing if this was applied to both Cork and Derry. League places unchanged, ditto European qualification, and ditto again as regards complaints from relegated teams.
Bohs however......now that would be an entirely different story
Is there a copy of the league rule book floating around anywhere? It could save a bit of conjecture!

See Rule 124 & 125
I love the directory 'stories' that they keep it in![]()

Yes, lots of details there!
RULE 124. DEMOTION TO A LOWER DIVISION
A club may be demoted to a lower division.
RULE 125. DEDUCTION OF POINTS
A club may have points deducted from those already attained in the current or a future* competition.
There is nothing in this rule book about the 65% rule, about payments to players, etc. Surely even with the FAI the 65% rule must be written down somewhere?
(* I particularly like this bit ... clubs can be docked points from those already attained in a future competition!)

As far as I'm aware, the League of Ireland also has a rule-book in addition to the FAI rule-book. The rules regarding the 65% wage cap, etc. are contained in the LOI rule-book.
Up the Harps!!
well from the looks of the report in the star today the fudge has already started page 59 will see if the article is online somewhere.
It also states "Cork's players are currently without showering facilities at their bishopstown training facility as the electricity has been cut over unpaid bills"
should we be surprised if true?
according to the paper the FAI are going to meet them to highlight their embarrasment and to give them a bloody good talking to.., so that should solve all future problems and negate any need for licensing sanctions, well done john just what cork need right now a right good talking too
I wish i did not know then what I dont know now

Statement following the Special General Meeting
Following a very well attended Special General Meeting at the Kingsley Hotel on Wednesday, October 28th, the Board of Management of FORAS make the following statement:
Last night, at a special General Meeting of FORAS, Friends of the Rebel Army Society Ltd., members voted unanimously to lodge a League of Ireland ‘A’ Championship licence application for the 2010 season. FORAS took this decision to try to ensure that there will be League of Ireland representation in Cork City next season should any other applicants be unsuccessful. FORAS BoM will not be making any further comment on the application whilst it is under consideration by the Independent Licencing Committee.
Regards,
FORAS BoM
Got this quote from the City forum
Coughlan has told the players at a meeting that he has agreed a deal to sign Andy Cole for next season.

Credit to boscos for the info.
It says a lot when I can't tell if that's a joke or not.
