The proof will be in the pudding i guess. At this remover, it just looks like the FAI have stopped an embarrassing protest on live TV. That is no disrespect to FORAS, but a total lack of faith in the FAI. Hopefully the FAI do listen to the concerns and move on them.

"Having discussed the continuation of the planned protest the BoM has decided that it is in the best interests of the Trust to postpone the protest."

Are they just talking to them to avoid the embarassment of this happening on national TV? Yes call me cynical.

Maybe, but so what? The point of the protest wasn't to have a protest; it was to try and get Coughlan removed. Yes, the FAI are two-faced feckers at the best of times, but it seems to me like an immediate mission accomplished by FORAS.

There are other televised games left if they're only paying us lip-service.

Fair play to Foras, it's pretty much unprecendented for a national association to sit down with a Trust that's essentially arguing against their own club (in its current format) getting a licence.

Incidentally we're over 1,000 posts so far on the demise of Cork in this thread alone!

I think it's no great secret that the FAI want Tom gone. Ideally of his own accord but if not I'd expect him to get the Danny Drew treatment. The Alan Mathews case if it goes against them, and who'd bet against Tom having made a balls of it, could finish him off. It's listed for the end of this month isn't it?. No doubt Tom will seek another adjournment.

Or I would suggest the meeting with FORAS is to ensure any pitch invasion /demonstration is well over before the cameras start to roll. I suspect the FAI policy is for Cork City to stagger on until the season ends and then for action to be taken to ensure the circus does not carry over to next season.

It will carry on to next season though, Cork have been through it pretty much all this season and i feel really sorry for the fans, but sanctions muct be taken against the club, its as simple as that really. They should not be granted a Premier Division licence next season for what has happened and continues to happen this season IMO. The sooner the FAI take action the soonet Cork can try and sort this mess out.

Slightly off thread but I suspect the FAI will have to seriously check all business plans for next season - and introduce penalties for any club not adherring to same (yes, including Bohs ). the spate of fiasco like stories stretched across the League this season adds fuel to those belittling the League and makes "selling" it well nigh impossible. As self regulation is no regulation (well it is Ireland) I would expect the FAI to act to prevent similar stories arising next season.
although maybe I am just living in hope (but he told me they were magic beans....).

How will it ? I'd wager the likelihood of a Danny Drew situation is very high regarding Coughlan.

What can the FAI do right now though ?

What rules have Cork broken at the moment that means they can be punished ? Or is this just another of the many expectations on foot.ie for the FAI to act as God, judge, jury and executioneer even in situations where they can't ?

your right there is nothing they can do now however they have the power to refuse a licence for next season,
I would gues they are hoping that TC wil do the decent thing and fcuk off which would allow them to issue a premier licence to the new owners foras if they wished
I wish i did not know then what I dont know now

And what are the new rules?
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

Well, not paying players and staff for one. Not being fully tax compliant is another.

If they have those issues sorted by 31st January they're within the rules such as they are at the moment.

I'm thinking they have most probably blown the 65% rule to pieces. Again though that is not calculated til the end of the season.
