It seems everyone is getting behind it. A fan owned club is definitely the way forward in this league.

The "boycotter's" were not boycotting the club but Coughlan handling of it. This whole mess started some time ago & eventually some supporters felt the only way to get Coughlan out was to boycott matches. There has always been a hardcore fan base in Cork of between 2 to 3 thousand with another couple of thousand floaters which came out only for the big games. If the new club can get most of the hardcore fans out then they will do well & have a good first season.

That was exactly my point TD, given the crowds that Cork attracted historically there is no reason why they will not challenge this season (even if not from the start). I would hope that now the club is in (hopefully ) good hands that the support level will increase dramtically on last season (even in the 1st Division) given the goodwill attached to the new entity I would see no reason why those that boycotted will not be back.

The boycotters will be back, but there may be some people who were just sick of the whole thing who stopped going -in fact the mess that was CCFC under Tom was so bad it nearly caused fans of other clubs to give up . With the buzz of a fan-run team I'd hope we'd get big crowds (big for the 1st anyway) but will not be counting any chickens just yet...

But as you know some people will always find some excuse for not going, wrong night, football is poor, don't like the team colours etc. Long ago it was, stadiums are crap,no facilities. With the standard of most grounds now you can finish work go to the stadium, get something to eat & sit in comfort to watch a good game of football. Hopefully if the matches are on a Friday or Saturday night people will come out & support their local club.

It wasn't, but can you stop dragging the thread off-topic please? If you have a problem with a post report it. And don't reply, just keep quiet and mind your business please.

Cork City FORAS Co-op have appointed former Shamrock Rovers defender Tommy Dunne as first team manager.

Dunne is very familiar with Cork football after working with Paul Doolin as assistant manager in Cork in the 2009 season.

Speaking about the appointment, Dunne said: 'It's a job I would always have liked and I'm delighted to take it on.

'Last year was an enjoyable year for me even though there were problems with the club.

'I've enjoyed being in Cork, the people, playing in Turner's Cross and the atmosphere there. It's an exciting job and I'm looking forward to getting started.'
Foras site is up now as well... Not much on it mind...

+1. Also passionate about the club. I seem to remember the aforementioned passion stirring trouble on Foot.ie on occasion , but I met him in person a couple of times and he was dead-on; and looking back to then, Administrator seems a perfect position for him.

(I don't think he posts here any more Réiteoir, unfortunately.)

No, unfortunately because fo the timing we simply wouldnt be ready.

Just membership. Basically we're asking that people now sign up, pay 10euro a month and own part of your club.

Again, timing mean we wont have a membership package which includes season ticket for this season.

Our season ticket packages will be announced asap.

I'll do that next month when I've the dosh. It'll be an individual membership though, Foot.ie can't afford your high-falutin' business memberships, plus of course there'd be a conflict of interest.

If you don't mind some constructive feedback, ye've disabled right-click on the site, which means people can't copy the email address to send payment without using the Edit menu, which might not occur to them. A Buy Now button would work best though, they're dead easy to make on the PayPal site. If you need a hand, give me a shout.

(Getting technical, you should get right of the right-click script anyway, if someone wants to steal your content they'll find a a way around it, by just disabling javascript, taking a screenshot, installing Firebug, etc. And it's terrible from an accessibility point of view.)

Feedback always welcome. It can be passed on. I imagine that site will become somewhat redundant in the near future with the new interim club site online. Id imagine it'l be moved over.

I think thats the problem... the fans are passionate about the club etc and have the clubs best interests at heart, but the real problem is that the club aren't ran like a business. Fans wouldn't be able to do that imo

Guys, is it true that Cork FORAS will now swap places with Bray in Div 1?
