Not exactly the same.
The main difference between Cork and Derry is that the Derry board stood aside and agreed to liquidation (allowing NewCo to be immediately established and purchase the trading name from Wellvan), whereas Tom has kept fighting the FAI's attempts to do the same in Cork.
Also, whilst Derry have shafted the bulk of their creditors, if you want to get into specifics, the paragon of virtue that is Shamrock Rovers came through examinership all shiny and clean, paying its creditors what may well turn out to be less than Derry City will pay back when all told. People seem to have forgotten that.
True, But in the event of liduidation, how you got that far is irrelevant. Obviously it was easier for ye, but the theory of buying the name is the same
What? Who's forgotten that?
Im certainly not lecturing on shafting creditors, we've shafted more people in the last 2 years than most clubs put together.
Certainly the one thing all 3 tree had in common was that they had no assests, otherwise they would never have gone into examinership. Or put another way Monaghan wll never be in that position cause they'd risk losing their ground. Now if they sold their ground, then rented it back and used the proceeds to sign good players and win the trophies then they'd be huge and have no problems.......................................
ummm, why didnt we think of that. Why didnt you suggest that before the AGM last night? Dam you Ronnie.
I cant see us ever going down that route as our Regional Development Centre is what the club have been working towards for years and when the fiinal stages are completed in a few years it will be worth the years in the first division building for the future. And then we can use our hard earned money to pay players big wages and win all the cups possible with a solid base.
The most recent one, so eh the currently best supported team, no?
Lets redefine what it means to heal
My mind is boggling at the moment on this.
If I was working for a company and they had not paid me for 2 months there is NO way in hell I would still be there without pay after 6 months. I can understand the players still being there but the staff.
Is it just me or is this gone on too long because the staff also did not take a stand before now.
Dan Murray,Danny Murphy,Dan Connor,Mark McNulty,Stephen O'Donnell and
Paul Deasy have all been suspended by the club for 2 weeks and fined 2 weeks wages for thier part in todays press conference!

How convenient - seems the players are free to walk as havent been paid but obviously want to play for Cork under the right conditions. What do the club do? Find a way (in their eyes) to keep them but not have to pay them.... It
just gets weirder / funnier / and embaressing by the hour - I do feel sorry for Cork fans (and players such as above)
Sure they'll all be leaving soon anyway.
Wow,how many more twists can this whole thing take. The best screen writer's would be struggling to come up with these plot twist's.Its sad, funny, embarassing and stupid all in one.
Agree about the PFAI,they are the players union yet dont seem to be protecting, helping them much.
If the PFAI dont stop all members from training/playing with the club while their colleagues are being treated like this then there's no point to them at all.
They werent even at the press conference this morning ffs.
