Devlin refutes Zayed loan plans

Bray Wanderers manager Pat Devlin has refuted suggestions that the club�s star striker Eamon Zayed will join Crewe Alexandra on loan for the remainder of the English league season, insisting that a temporary contract never came up in discussions with the English side.

Devlin has stated that he will not stand in the way of Zayed�s career progress: he permitted the 20-year-old to play in the World Youth Championships in November and December despite the fact that Bray were battling for promotion to the Premier Division, a battle they would ultimately lose, and has been actively helping the former Leicester City trainee to find a suitable club this winter.

Zayed joins Crewe

Crewe have signed striker Eamon Zayed on loan until the end of the season from Bray Wanderers with a view to a permanent deal.

The Republic of Ireland Under-21 international impressed during a week on trial at Gresty Road and scored for the reserves in a practice match against Port Vale.

The Dublin-born player, who has a Tunisian father, scored 25 goals in 52 appearances for Bray since joining them from Leicester in 2002.

Zayed played in all four of Ireland's World Under-20 Championship games in December.
