    Drogs reduce ticket price hikes

The board of Drogheda United have opted against implementing a 100% increase in match-day ticket prices for the coming Premier Division season after coming under strong pressure from supporters’ groups since announcing the planned increases last week.

Stand tickets had been slated for an increase from Eur13 to Eur25, with terrace tickets to be doubled to Eur20, but the club has revised this stance, a move which has been welcomed by the club’s supporters.

The new ticket prices will see terrace tickets available for Eur15, constituting a 50 per cent increase on last season, with stand tickets given a similar hike to Eur20. Old Age Pensioners and Students can gain admission to Eur8, up from Eur5 last season.

The ambitious County Louth club have justified the increase by the need for a revenue boost in order to run a more professional outfit. Team manager Paul Doolin has already signed six players this close-season, including goalkeeper Tony O’Dowd from Shamrock Rovers earlier this week, and has also been in discussions with out-of-contract Bohemians pair Mark Rutherford and Paul Keegan.

One thing is for certain: United supporters will not accept another season of battling against relegation, which has been the club’s lot in both their seasons in the top flight since winning promotion from the First Division three seasons ago.

    Drogs Board..

The Drogs board are getting away with murder. They increase gate prices by 100% and when fans kick up comotion they then reduce the increase by 50% and make it look like they backed down.I am sure this was there plan all along. If they had increased it by 50% first day the fans would not have accepted it either but now they have accepted it instead of the 100%...

I have been reading the Drogs board and there fans are sounding very confident this year. Some guys were actually saying during the week that they are getting great prices on Drogs to win the league.I have no doubt they might be better but they wont challenge the top three or four this season yet...

Paul Doolin is a good manager so I wouldn't rule anything out until the season starts and we see how everyone is playing.

They won't be challenging for the title, but they could seriously mess up some other teams. Points are going to be very difficult to get from Drogs this season. I think they will be the team with the most amount of draws this season.

I don't see them winning the title, I see them doing well and being difficult to beat especially in Drogland.

Having seen Paul Doolin first-hand for the last three seasons, I expect Drogs to put ten men behind the ball and hang on for a draw whenever possible. They'll be doing well to finish top seven.

Hope that doesn't backfire on me now!
