Lads,

Just updating the Athlone site at www.athlonetownfc.com, which has a guide for fans travelling to away matches. Basic information like finding the ground, places to stay, eat, drink etc. If anyone has any info they would like to contribute, could you please reply here or email info@athlonetownfc.com. I have the following information which was supplied last year:

Address: St. Colman's Park, Cobh, Co. Cork
Phone: n/a

Getting To Saint Colman's Park

By Road:
Take the N25 from Cork or Waterford to Carrigtwohill junction. At the roundabout, head for Cobh and follow the road for about 2 miles. After crossing the stone bridge, turn left past the castle and follow the road for about 4 miles until you enter the town. Turn right just before the cathedral, follow the road round to the right and turn left at the T-junction. Keep going straight ahead - the floodlights are about 500yds in front of you.

By train:
Trains run approximately every hour from Kent Station in Cork - check timetable before travelling. Out of the station, turn right and climb the steps on your left. At the top of the steps, cross the road and keep going uphill. Turn left and left again at the end, and keep climbing (!) - the ground is straight ahead of you.

Eating, Sleeping & Drinking

Pubs:
Top of the Hill - Mansworths, The Roaring Donkey

Town centre - Ryans, Maguires (both in the square)

Grub:
No Details

Staying Over:
Plenty of B&Bs and hotels in town

Useful Information

There are lounge and snug bars in the clubhouse - there are often bands on after matches, and it can be well worth staying for. There's also a snack bar behind the goal.

Use the toilets in the clubhouse, not the pitch-side ones! (no roof)

Cheers,

Ray
