Sounds like a pretty silly thing to do !!!!

Sketchy reports mabey someone else can elaborate, but:

Johnny Shannahan got 3 for Broadford and Newcastle were without Kelly and Quaid. Didnt get other scorers or what order the goals came in.

Shannonside had a goal disallowed in extra time and Rashers saved 2 penos.

Abbey were 2 nil down and pulled it back, Again didnt get the scorers. Rovers are tough at home

Abbeyfeale were two up at half time away to Rovers, by all accounts the Rovers equalizer was a fantastic effort from distance.
Shannonside won on pens at home to Glin but in reality Shannonside played their opponents off the park and no way should the game have gone to extra time let alone pens, snow was brilliant for the homeside and gave the Glin defence a torrid time all thru.
Broadford led 3-0 at one stage in this game, Hurley got one of the goals for Newcastle

Rathkeale scored first goalkeeping error. Southend equalised following a good move. 1-1 H.T. Southend took lead in second half with long range free-kick powerful shot that deceived the keeper. Rathkeale rallied and equalised with about 12mins remaining. No further score so finished 2-2. Southend won the game with a penalty (handball) in the first period of extra time. Hard luck on Rathkeale who tried hard and possibly unfortunate not to get to penalty kicks.

True, And he didnt exactly set the world alight in his stint with Carew Park. Doubt they'd sack him at this stage of the season though

Agree totally. Maybe it was devalued a little bit by teams experimenting and finding form but it made it open and exciting. Maybe this option could be looked at again or someone might know why this format was scrapped ?

A bad report of the game if i heard one!! Shannonside had two very good chances in the first half moo fitz hit the chances straight at the glin goalie!! glin had two very good chances in the second half john kelliher missed a header at the end!! snow did very well took his penalty extremly well!! the glin goalie saved two penos aswell!! and the offside goal was definately offside as kavanagh was on the goal line when snow kick the ball towards the net kavanagh was greedy and tipped it in!! the ref liam o ' connor is a complete joke!! he loves the sound of his own voice and awarded the first booking of the game to a glin player as the shannonside management called it!! "yere getting away with it every sunday" Liam O'Connor's quote to a glin player on the pitch!how can O'Connor ref the game if he says such things like this!! and he's down to ref askeaton versus glin sunday!

I,m sure that Broadford and Shannonside are glad that the League Cup is knockout as they would have struggled to get to the final if the games were played in August/Sept. as they are two of the best senior GAA sides in the county. Having said that they should produce a good final as they both try to play attractive football.
