Ref was threatened when he sent off a Broadford player so he walked off forcing the game to be abandoned? What'll be the outcome of this lads?

Refs should never be treatened. Match should definetly be given to the other team. Should make an example and give a suspension to the player involved.
I think a newcastle player a few years ago pushed a ref and ended up getting suspended for a year. Think it was the older power. Buddygeary could you help me out with that.

I think you are right Gearysfan, if memory serves me right it was in a match against Rathkeale in Clonreask, either a Premier League Cup Final or a Desmond Cup Final, not sure which one. Crazy that a player would do such a stupid thing when his side are three nil up at home with ten minutes left

Ya its a disgrace that a ref should be treatened after all refs are very scarce and if we did not have the refs there would be no games on a Sunday. Does anyone know who the ref was and what was said?

    Ref ''Attack''

By all accounts this case is not as straight forward as it seems. I was talking to a lad who was at it last night and he told me the referee was a disgrace. He said the game was not dirty yet Broadford had 8 players booked, Ferry 5 booked and Broadford 2 sent off. He said the second player that was sent off was sent off for a second bookable offence (dissent), (he had previously been booked). He walked to the line, sat under the stand (40 yards from referee), took off his boots, put his head in his hands and shouted ''he is some *****'' in frustration. At that point the referee said he had had enough and walked off. Obviously abuse of officials should not be tolerated, but neither should officials who display such a poor attitute as Pat O'Donnell did.
Again I was not there, I am only commenting on what I was told. Just two points, The lad who told me was a very prominent Desmond league player, doesnt drink or smoke and would be regarded within the Desmond League as a very honest and fair character, Secondly the player in question has been playing Junior soccer for 17 years and apparently has never been sent off. He also played for Villa Rovers and played a handful of games for Broadford A last year
Finally a Desmond League offical who just happened to be at the match was also reportedly outraged at this referees performance and antics

ya you are right there gearysfan..keith power (ncw a) got sent off for pushing the the ref in a league cup final few years back against rathkeale out of frustration over a goal being allowed to stand even thou the there was 3 players offside...same happened few yrs back in templeglantine in which glantine were at home to rockhill rovers...in a very dirty game the ref booked loads of players and sent off few players..he sent off a player but it was the wrong player he sent off.so when showed the red card to the player, the player smacked the ref in the mouth and got 10 years suspension..but he was allowed back after 2years..i know some refs in the league show red cards for nothing these days but you just cant be doing that kind of stuff in soccer these days
