http://www.lrsdc.ie/gallery/photocat...PCID=34&NCID=0 The new ground really has a wow factor, totally unique roof design, even the quirky Northern end is growing on me....roll on August 2010, can't get out of Croker quick enough.
So much for the media conspiracy
The Cusack stand was finished first and after complaints about it, they adjusted the plans and extended the Hogan stand roof out by an extra 14m.
But imo no matter if the Cusack roof was extended by the same, it would not do much difference to keeping in the noise of the crowd.
The stadium functions fine for GAA crowds and their type of atmosphere but falls way short with the Ireland soccer games.
This new Lansdowne rd looks to be an acoustic peach of a stadium and tailor made for purpose.

It's shaping up fantastically and will be the best stadium in Ireland once completed. Can't wait to get out of Croker too. Now if only I could get on the bloody block booker waiting list![]()
just as well we dont get too much sun in Ireland or there would be lots of cooked fans in there... looks like the worlds biggest green house with all that glass![]()
Its really not that complicated!!!
Just wait 'til the fat lady hits that note.
looks super.
I like high energy football. A little bit rock and roll. Many finishes instead of waiting for the perfect one.
Looks class. The ground picture 2 of 4 really captures it magnifcance.
The design looks a bit too gay to be a Rugby venue.
Just back from a tour. Took lots of photos which I hope to post shorty. April finishing date is on schedule. Block bookers, clubs etc get the bottom and very top tiers (33,000 of them). Very few tickets will be on public sale.
Met Giovanni and Marco at a reception afterwards. Just before he headed off to announce the squad.
Forget about the performance or entertainment. It's only the result that matters.
No, we were just being shown the "corporate boxes"The guy on the tour was asked about this and he said that's the concern of the builders. Not a great answer.
Apparently there is going to be some major announcement today at 4 which John Delaney said would be significant.

Meant to update this earlier but actually forgot what thread it was on.
I spoke to my source again a few weeks ago. He is adamant that the cost was £2 million although it was to put in a full roof not to extend the roof at the planning stage. It may have gone up to £2 million a metre to extend the roof. Seems strange that the same figure applied though.
Anyway hope the Aviva has a proper roof that covers all the fans.
Great pics Owls Fan, the roof is starting to resemble a roller coaster.More pics would be great.
It's looking fantastic, but I still can't warm to that awful little terrace on the Havelock side; it looks so daft against the rest of the stadium. Plus as a spectator you'd feel so much more ... exposed?
