Unfortunately Brazil knocked us out in the semi final,we put in a great effort, but the 4 3 extra time win over Ingerland in the quarter final took its toll.

Aerial and ground pics on www.lrsdc.ie really worth a look, taken last Tuesday. That roof is a serious bit of engineering.

I saw it from the Grand Canal Dock the other day (was doing my driver's Theory Test in Barrow St.) and it looks quite spectacular even from distance. It'll look a peach when done, I just hope it doesn't end up like the O'Connell spire and become filthy after a few months. Shiny surfaces are all well and good, but only if you make they stay shiny

Ah man getting excited looking at those pictures, cant wait untill we're back home. Have the feeling though that we are going to be looking at the havelock square end and saying isnt a pity that they couldnt finish it off and make it two tier as well (similar to how i feel when i see Hill 16, makes the ground look unfinished).

with a roof over it the north terrace end will look far more finished than hill 16. what would concern me more is the possibility of those roof beams blocking your view if you are in the last few rows of the stand..

Major problem alright, spectators should be able to see the pitch but not anytime it goes above head height, rugby fans won't be happy. However developers aren't sure they will sell tickets for those seats yet.

It won't be the last we've heard of this one.

A slot on Joe Duffy in a years time beckons.

Caution: Mass use of the phrase "Its all a bit Irish, Joe" may feature.

i went for a tour on friday (who you know, not what you know ) and it looks good. 8 months to handover apparently. the low roof should ensure a great atmosphere and the fact it is largely enclosed should keep the sound in. that was a design consideration, clearly not something done at croker. the roof steel is all finished and the support cranes are coming down soon. still a lot to do, but a lot done too. if it was in south africa, i would be confident of its readiness for the world cup. loads of workers about and loads of work being done.

gets a thumbs up from me.

They saved £2 million by not putting a proper roof on Croke Park. Funny the media never re-visit that decision.

Not sure where the Ireland v England thread went I cant find it when i search. I searched for Ireland V England and yet it didnt come up anyway, point is would people now still want england over. Yesterday proved that things haven't really moved on that much, they are just better policed now than they were. These guys would get over to Ireland no problem.

thats not really correct. the cost of extending the roof was £2m (in 1992 prices) for every extra metre of roof cantilever over and above whats there now. it would need a lot more than a 1 metre extension to be a full roof
