Started reading Lance Armstrong's autobiograpgy today- It's Not About the Bike: My Journey Back to Life. Only gotten through 60 pages so far but it's been brilliant so far.

'The Suspicions of Mr.Whicher' by Kate Summerscale, it's alright, struggling to stay interested

'Pitch Invasion' by Barbara Smit about the Dassler Brithers, one who founded Adidas, the other Puma, both based out of a small german town, absolutely fascinating read so far.
&
'City Edition' from the Pat's game last night, great programme and our chairman thanked the volunteers, which is nice.

Nick Hornby - A Long Way Down. Really enjoying it. Just wish had more time and energy to dedicate to it and would have finished it a few days ago.

He makes me laugh but also have never read someone with a deeper understanding of the human mind. He has me pegged in every book.

Just finished recently Dispatches by Michael Herr, Let the Right One In by John Ajvide Lindqvist, Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them by Al Franken (re-read), Ishmael by Daniel Quinn and The Third Policeman by Flann O'Brien

Midnight's Children by Salman Rushdie. Hard going but also hard to put down, curiously contradictory. Probably like India herself no doubt someone will opine and expand upon. Someone else though. Not me. Far too busy.

Fever Pitch is the best written description of what it's like to be a football fan, big fan of High Fidelity also.

Gave it up after 20 pages. Also led to one of my most embarrassing moments when I chose not to divulge the fact, at the start of a tutorial I had on it, that I had neglected to read it and was then asked for my opinions on it. The thought of my subsequent David Brent-esque mental flailings make me go red even today.

Yeah it was Fever Pitch the movie that got me into his books and he totally understands the fans mind. I moved to beside my Highbury!

High Fidelity is like he climbed into my brothers head and spoke to me and About A Boy is just one of the best books where nothing much happens ever!

Just finished The Ace in the Hole by Anne Proulx. which was as brilliant as her other works.

Started reading Fever Pitch about a year ago but after getting through around 200 pages I mislaid it. Forgot about it until now. Have to dig it out once I finish Armstrong's.

I've been stuck on Anna Karenina for ages. I find it really heavy and can't get past more than twenty pages at a time. Then when I do, I can't go near it for another few weeks.

I've already lined up a few to read when I do finish it: Doctor Zhivago, The Lost Estate and The Battle For Spain.

Hate it when that happens.
It's hard going at the start alright, but something about it keeps me reading.

I've been building up to AK with a succession of shorter books to get some momentum- a book of Ray Bradbury's short stories and Hemingway's 'A Moveable Feast' for instance. Will be starting it at some point over the next few days and hoping can make it through. I've been stuck at page 346 of Moby Dick since March.

read "we dont know what we're doing" by adrian chiles. i would put it on par (if not better) than fever pitch. its based around the season wba stayed up in the premiership.
