touhy was always there ,the saxone just stopped and was replaced by the tsb which gets played under lights now by the prem teams, simmington was the old fai area when only 1 team went out of town, and im certain the naughton replaced the old murphy cup played for by division 1 teams, correct me if im wrong

Geraldines won one in the late 90's, beating Fairview in the semi final in Jackman Park 1-0 and then Mungret 2-1 in the Final also in Jackman Park a few weeks later ..........and I think that was one of if not "the" last Simmington Cup.....

    weekend weather

Friday will start dry but with cloud building up during the morning. Rain will develop in the west by midday and will spread across the country during Friday afternoon. The weather will then turn showery again for Saturday, with frequent showers on the western and side of the Ireland but less showery further east. And it will be quite windy on Saturday too. The showers will be less frequent on Sunday and it will be a much drier day overall. The wet weather will continue through most of next week as well. It may stay dry for daylight hours on Monday, but heavy rain will develop through Monday night and Tuesday. Temperatures throughout will remain close to current values with daytime maxima around 10 or 11C.

Send it to the LDMC, maybe they might get the message that there is bad weather out there and calling games off on Saturday would be an intelligent thing to do instead of having teams travel Sunday morning.
If you're in the penalty area and don't know what to do with the ball, put it in the net and we'll discuss the options later

simmington cup was played for recently ,the 4 teams that went out of town competed for it ,but there was,nt really much interest in it,the last one won when 1 team went out of town ,i reckon fairview beat pike 1 nil in pearse stadium with john white scoring the winner ,he also scored the winner in fai and munster junior finals the same year ,i could be totally wrong tho,

not looking good for next weekend either....

......It’s a very unsettled outlook as this current cycle of wet weather continues. Thursday will probably start fairly dry but showers and spells of showery rain will occur over most parts of the country through the day. Friday morning will be generally dry, but then more wet and windy weather will spread up from the south through the second half of the day. Some heavy falls of rain and possibly very windy conditions will develop through Friday evening and early night. The southwesterly winds will have eased by Saturday morning although the day will still be quite windy. Otherwise Saturday and Sunday will be showery days, the showers more frequent over the western half of the county, with the eastern side of Irleand drier. Although it continues to stay wet, temperatures will be around normal and there is no sign yet of any real cold frosty weather.....

still not looking good....what will they do????

    Outlook

FRIDAY NIGHT and SATURDAY will bring further heavy showers or longer spells of rain. There may be some thunder also. SUNDAY will bring a mix of sunny spells and scattered showers, some of which may be heavy. SUNDAY NIGHT into MONDAY: another Atlantic depression will move across Ireland, bringing spells of heavy rain, possibly with very strong winds.

    Thanks for reading.

call 'em off and be done with it....

    Outlook

The outlook is for the very wet weather to continue for the rest of the weekend and early next week as well but after a cold start it will be getting gradually milder and although still unsettled there will be more in the way of dry spells developing. Sunday: Cool and windy with a mixture of sunny spells and scattered heavy rain or hail showers and a risk of some thunderstorm activity. Highest temperatures 9 or 10 degrees in a blustery southwesterly wind easing later. Further heavy and possibly thundery showers Sunday night. Fog patches also. Monday: A cool, fresh day with sunny spells and scattered heavy showers. Tuesday & Wednesday: Still rather cool with sunny spells and scattered showers. Rest of next week: Milder as southerly winds become established. The winds will become strong and possibly reach gale force at times bringing in some rain from the Atlantic but more in the way of dry spells than at present.
