As it's a wednesday evening in August you shouldn't have a problem if you parked over that way by Woodies/Dunnes etc on the Ennis Road. Bit of a graveyard most of time these days with the downturn. I think you're coming from the Galway side anyway are you Eamo? ...puts you on the road back home handy enough afterwards and all.

I live across the road from TP and the police are getting stricter with vehicular access to the immediate vacinity of the ground (the surrounding housing estates) as match/concert goers were chucking vehicles up on any green space they could find. Rod Stewart last weekend was the first time we'd to get residents passes and it worked out fairly well.

For those driving from the Cork or Dublin side ...seriously -park in town. It's only a 15 minute walk ...I stagger it about once a week with little difficulty.
There'll be buses on as well.

There's a park and ride facility for Munster games from Kilmurry Lodge, just off the Dublin road as you come into Limerick, will this be in operation for the game?

    Thanks.

Thanks Lionel.Yes,coming in from the Galway side so it will be handy.I just thought that car park might be one of those where you can only park there if your using the shops there etc but like you said it wil be a Wednesday evening.
We are cutting it very tight for time as the gf only gets out of work at 5pm and have to try get out of Galway city in Galway traffic and find parking down there all within 2.5 hrs.Should be fun.

I believe this was a mess afterwards unless sorted out since. People needed to get taxis back out. Word I heard was that there were never any buses arranged to go back but the official line was that everybody went to the wrong place.

I'd second the advice here - woodview for those coming from Galway and city centre for those from Dublin and Cork.

If you have a satnav then from Dublin turn off at Birdhill head for O'Briens Bridge then parteen and in that way. Park that side of the ground when you see the ground and go home the same way. I wouldn't risk it without a satnav as it is too easy to get lost.

Make sure your city centre carpark stays open until AFTER the game - some don't.

It is safe to park a car anywhere in Limerick, especially one with a Dublin reg.? (a serious question).

I drive a car with a Dublin reg and have only ever been broken into once and that was in Stephens Green.

Limerick is a lot safer to park in than Dublin but not completely safe. The Woodview/Mayorstone end (Galway side) is perfectly safe. I'd stick to the main road on the Ballynanty side. Hassets cross back towards the Treaty Stone has very limited parking but also fine.

The multistoreys will be fine. Parking is safe enough around TP but restricted on matchdays.

Like Gspain -my car has a D reg and has never been interferred with here next to TP in Ballynanty, the entire northside or anywhere else in Limerick for that matter. Also, as it's a wednesday evening game there'll be a fair bit of free on-street city center parking from 5.30pm onwards so many of ye won't need multi-storey parking at all.

Another good option for those coming from the Dublin side would be to park in the Clare street area of the city (Art College on your left, Clare Street public park on your right) and walk out to TP from there. Again it's a 15 minute walk.

I come in from the Clare side, turn left at the Gaelic Grounds, up there and take the second right and park up along there by the side of the road. I do this for the Munster matches but am usually there an hour or more before the start. It's only a 5 min walk or less.

Distance to Thomond for Aussie game

Hi there, 8 of us are ehading down for the game on Aug 12, we are staying in the Clarion Suites Hotel, Ennis Rd, can anyone advise distance from there to Thomond.

Is it walking distance or do we need to get taxi etc?

Also any pubs recommended near Thomond for pre match beers?

Ya as tetsujin1979 its only a 15minute walk, if even that. If you cut right across the housing estate across the road it will only take about 10mins max. Its a handy walk. The Ardhu Bar is the one that opened and its class. Really big outdoor smoking area with loads of tellys up outside. Plenty of people will be going there before the match i'd say so you could also just follow the crowd over to the match.

I was in College in Limerick (was in Jackman for the 2-1 League Cup Final 1st Leg win over Derry, great result!) and in the days before the Ennis Bypass etc we used to always turn off after Gort and go via Tulla coming in the Old Cratloe Road to the Moylish Roundabout by L.I.T., not great roads but was a much shorter journey at the time!! How do ye think parking that side of Thomond would be? Will the L.I.T. Car Park be open, if so would probably fill up fast though?
The fight is won or lost far away from witnesses - behind the lines, in the gym, and out there on the road, long before I dance under those lights.

Its about a ten minute brisk walk - alot of people will be passing the Strand Hotel walking to the gound from town (including myself) so you could just follow them.

Well your as well off coming straight in the Dual carraige way. Parking in L.I.T might be scarce. I know they have opened it for one or two Munster matches but usually i think it takes an age to get out of and it can't be guaranteed to be open for the match. Your best bet would probably be at Dunnes (The Jetland) on the Ennis road or at the Retail Park across from it (Woodies D.I.Y, Petmania). You'll pass these if you come straight into Limerick off the Dual Carraige way. Its a handy walk up to Thomond Park from there.

Yes they also do this for the Munster matches. I prob should have mentioned it in my previous post. One usually goes from the Radisson (dual carraigeway entering Limerick from Ennis/Galway side) and the other is at the Kilmurray Lodge (On the right hand side as you come in from the Dublin side). Think its Hyman coaches that run it but wouldn't be 100% on it.
