There's also an interesting comment piece on the eL in the main paper...the point being basically that Ireland is too small with too few people to support ANY professional sport in particular a national league when most soccer fans in the country are barstoolers. The guy maintained that clubs are wasting the money their invest.

    Exclamation ......................................

What are the lads quoted saying ??

What was the article about ?
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

This particular piece might have been interesting from someone who knew what he was talking about, but when it comes from Cooper, who spends large amounts of his radio show railing at the whole world, because his most favourite club of all, Leeds Utd., are in such trouble, its a little hard to take. Cooper has consistently denigrated the eL, gave it no coverage at all when he was editor of the ST, yet can give pages to schools rugger and the AIL.
He is a typical barstooler, a la Dunphy, and until he actually is prepared to see whats good about the eL, and not just have a lash at it when there is bad news, should be ignored.

Dunphy was at least honest. I though Cooper was slightly different, and at least added eL previews to the Last Word. Trying to calm down enough to compose a letter that has some chance of being published....

Bar the eL coverage, the best of the Sunday's imo. No eL coverage, but none of the other papers give it enough coverage to warrant a change anyway...

I may be able to claim some credit for that!
I pestered him from the time he took over to give some coverage to the eL. However, his 5 mins or so with Noel King for a few weeks hardly merits being called coverage...

Given up on the Tribune as continually disappointed every time i go back to buying it.

I don't mind reading aboiut rugby but not when its half the sports supplement.

What did they say about foot.ie? Are shares in foot.ie on the rise...?

Conor you bit was the first post of here

You can view the paper on www.tribune.ie

You have to register and download software - you can't copy and paste, print screen or print it though... Also ignore the subscription - the free sample is last weeks paper. I've the paper at home so I can get it scanned tomorrow if I remember (and Coopers article). Someone can put it up somewhere....

It's in the Back of the Net section - near the back of the sports section.

Interesting in the sarcastic sense. Any fan of the league would know what side he was on by just reading the article. The ignorant, doesn't know what he's talking about side.
