No, I don't think Rosegreen will get as much stick as Rock Rovers did for a number of reasons.

    1. Rosegreen simply could not fulfil the fixture as they didn't have enough registered players available to do so. They had something like 9 players injured or away at the weekend (it was a bank holiday weekend remember), so they could not field a team.

    2. The likliehood was, that even if they had fielded a team, they were unlikely to beat Clonmel Town, and therefore felt that giving a walkover was unlikely to change the overall outcome

    3. This was a cup game, and as such the result had no immediate impact on any other team aside from the teams involved. Rock Rovers giving walkovers to teams in the league is a different matter. For example, they played and drew with Cashel Town, but gave a walkover to Clonmel Town. Clonmel Town now have 15 points, and Cashel have 11, a difference of 4 points. Had for example they played and drew with Clonmel and given Cashel a walkover, both teams would now be on 13 points.. so by giving walkovers in the league, they can have effects on other teams, and possible promotion/relegation places

    4. The biggest gripe I think most people had with Rock Rovers on the weekend that they gave the walkover, was that they also fielded a B team on the same weekend. If they have enough players to field a B team, then these players should have played with the A team, and perhaps given the walkover in the lower league game. Surely the higher up team should take precedence?

Due to Rosegreen giving walkovers at the end of last season and knowing Tommy Lewis as I do, they are in for a large fine and a very stern warning about the rest of the season.
All clubs can get caught out on any given Sunday, but Tommy is like an elephant he never forgets past wrong doings.

good to see we have an outside manager for oscar traynor this year. we may get a fair selection now. my team would be

    1. breen
    2. cosgrave
    3. loughnane
    4. breen
    5. walsh
    6. d burns
    7. foggy
    8. t scully
    9. moroney
    10. p shanahan
    11. m ryan

formidable line up. my bench would be 12. r ryan (sub keeper ) 13. paul kennedy 14. barry ryan. 15. alan leahy 16. s mcgrath.

im sure there would be a lot of people unhappy with that but the league is lucky, only 16 players can be picked and they all can play

Dwayne Burns ? I didn't think he was that special when Cashel played Clonmel. What about the red headed ferlla who plays defensive midfield for Clonmel Celtic.. very tidy player. Colin Bargary of Cashel deserves a spot to in my humble opinion, and I'd put Ryan in goal ahead of Breen. But, very strong whatever way you look at it.

    Tipperary Venue

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showt...p?t=2055722987

I was thinking about this last night.
This would be a great venue for a Tipperary league of ireland team.

It would be central in Tipperary and would have a huge turnover of people if it happens. Some of them may go to watch a football game if the facilities were good enough.

The link isn't working, but I am assuming that you are pointing towards the proposed development at Two Mile Borris that was put into the NTCC for planning permission this week.

It definitely would be a fine stadium for a League of Ireland team, but in fairness, facilities don't make a team viable, supporters do. The real question that would need to be asked is would there be 5-10,000 people in the hinterland willing to go watch a team on a regular basis

Tipperary already had a team in the past, Thurles Town, and they couldn't make it work

Apologies for the link not working but thats the same development. I guess I hadnt heard the idea being floated of there being a team sport involvement and if the oppportunity is to be believed it would be a shame to miss out.

the exact same idea came into my head when i heard of the development. a league of ireland club from tipp to play out of the massive project in 2 mile borris. im sure a handy enough sized tallagh style stadium could be added to plans easy enough. would be a massive passing support around this at weekends with the casino, greyhound racing punters etc so you never know.

not many celtic players on those line-up's...i think they at least deserve two starters and another 1 or 2 on the bench, although in fairness it is hard to argue with any 1 of suggested teams.

More or less agree with you except would have Higgins right back and loughnane from Peake Villa left back.Swap Michael Ryan for Kennedy. However, its a tough one to call as some very good players left out

Peake and Saints should be a very good game. It's a pity both had to meet each other at such an early stage in the competition.

I watched Town and Peake on Sunday. It was a very good game, Peake were the better team in the first half and played very well. Town dominated the second half and extra time and only for the Peake keeper they could have scored a few more goal's. I must say the standard of finishing for all 5 goals was very good and a credit to all scorer's.Tony Scully and Barry Ryan played very well for Town, Barry was unlucky not to score one or two more. Foggy and Donal Duggan were Villa's best two players.
