Best of luck to the Cork sides playing next weekend - Springers it looks like ye've a tough one but sure you've nothing to loose against a top Limerick side.
Leeside - don't know much about Willow Park but they knocked out last years finalists St Peter's in the 1st round so it won't be easy but sure there should be no easy games at this stage of the competition - also this year they lost 1:0 to Ballymun in the quarter final of the Leinster Junior cup... which is no mean feat

Innishvilla had a good if hard fought win over local rivals De Courcy Alb last weekend. 2:0 down at half time got 2 quick goals to start the second half. took the lead 2:3 only to concede direct from a free kick from centre circle, winner came from a free kick from our top scorer this season Shane Fitzgerald - having a great season thus far, always an issue for Innishvilla, a 20 goals a season guy... Well he's got 13 so far from 15/16 games.
I couldn't call to watch the game so I'd appreciate the Albion point of view...
Yeah you basically got it all there. Think we dominated the 1st half and then it was all villa in the 2nd half as we expected being 2-0 up. Your defence was a bit iffy in the last part of the 1st half but didnt put a foot wrong after that. We played reasonably well overall, though (and im not making excuses - i think the result would have been the same anyway), we had 5 of our nomal 1st teamers on the line injured... Had to play myself, im the manager, and hadnt played since september. Innishvilla always looked dangerous on the attack, it was a good enough game to watch so im told and to be honest after losing 8-1 to ye last season we were only annoyed at letting a 2-0 lead slip but happy we gave ye a game at the same time. Best of luck in the next round all the same!!

Got a sweet draw in the next round of the AOH..............we play the winners of Leeside v Springfield A. Hopefully they will be a bit tired from their FAI cup exploits !!!!!!!

David, sorry to hear about your injury, hope you make a full recovery and resume playing in the future.

    Springers

I dont mean to take away from your achievement in reaching the last 16 of the biggest cup in Europe in any way by raising the subject.

We'd love a run in the FAI - never really got far in the comp.

    Im just curious.

What was the chain of events?
Why didnt they travel? - and "scared of us" is not an acceptable answer.
Im baffled as to how their league, province or even FAI let it happen.

I agree fully. I would think that most junior clubs and players would do anything to play in the out of town section of the FAI and a chance of a last 16 place...

Come on Carbury - I'd have given my left testicle for that chance. Also Springers don't think I'm being disrespectful as I know ye are an excellent team on the way back up to higher divisions - but surely Carbury looked at the league position of their opponents and saw they were traveling to a 2nd division side in cork - they are one of the favourites for premier division in Sligo/Letrim so it should have been a great chance to qualify for last 16.

Well its back to the league for us this week after 4 cup games on the trot. We have Park Utd at home on saturday, after our very tough game last week we are delighted to welcome back the 3 that couldn tog out last week.

Its important we pick up 3 points here and win our games in hand, we need to start closing the gap on the 2 teams above us, well if we win our 4 in hand we sail back to the top of the league..

As far as I know, if a club loses their 1st round game in their respective divisional cup competition (St Michaels, Saxone, President's Cup) then the club is automatically entered into the Corinthians Cup.

We lost in the 1st round of the Saxone cup last week and have been given a bye into the second round of the Corinthians cup. Drawn at home to Hillington.

Spot on (almost) - after a few questions posed a year or two ago. I think the official definition is if you lose your first game in a divisional cup - rather than 1st round losers. so it is the losers from the 1st/provisional round and any team that loses in the second round that did not compete in the 1st/preliminary round.
Can be a good cup to get a run in but watch out there are always some strong 1st division sides floating about in it...

On the ball Innishvilla, eligibility for the Corinthians Cup was never properly explained to us, we just presumed it was 1st round losers. In any case, it's our final chance of silverware for the year, so we will give it our best shot.

    Hello all.
I have been watching for awhile now and had some views on recent posts so I said I might as well jump in.
I have played in the AUL for around a decade now and although nearing the end I have a lot of great memories and only a few regrets. The main one is not winning enough silverware (but I’d say I’m not alone on that one).
The other is not having much interest in the Oscar Trainer Team (due to other sporting interests/commitments) and it’s on this subject I would like to make my first post.
Cork Aul won this cup last year with some very good players but also with some who were on the squad just because they were on it the year before and the year before ect.
I just think the selection process is not what it should be i.e. players being spotted for the talent rather than a club member being phoned up and asked who he thinks should go from he’s club.
I have witnessed this first hand a couple of times (at different clubs) and It just struck a cord with me this year when I seen 3 or 4 players from 1 particular club on the squad and one of the best centre halves in the AUL from that same club not being asked.
I apologize if my first post was a bit blunt but it was something I was thinking about for awhile now.

Any replies/comments good or bad welcome.

Name names legohead!! I have my suspicions in any case but go on! Actually lads has the squad been announced for the quarter finals against tipp?

Well done to all the cork teams last weekend and best of luck again this weekend. FAI and Munster Junior games are great to play in the latter stages. Enjoy every minute of it.
