Thirdeye you seem to have taken my comments an decided to view them in a very bad light. It may be your right to voice your own opinion but at least base it on whats printed in black an white, not on what you think yourself.Fact against Villa in the quaters of the Fai we were 2 /1 with 6 mins left an conceeded an equaliser direct from a corner an the winner in extre time from slack markin. If the ref had made a dodgy decision or the bounce of a ball cost us it would be far easier to take than something which was in our control, the ability to defend or just clear a ball.Against Castlebar we were awarded a peno against 9 men, looking at hopefully equalising an heading into extra time with a 2man advantage, figo reacted an got sent off an it upset us more than them, again it wasnt the ref or the bounce of a ball,it was in our control an we let it slip.

The quality and commitment of the players and managment was unquestionable, and I personally think if we had beat Villa we could have gone on to win the Fai with that particular side, but we as a club an them as players have moved on,grown up and if the chance ever comes there way again with Gods grace we will be far stronger for the experiencs we have gone through.

i was watchin the CHELSEA tv channel the other nite, waitin to see my beloved QPR lose again.Gus Hiddink was being interviewed an he said something which I thought was brilliant, but very brave as well.He said an I quote "the games you win or lose you have to be able to look at both with impartial eyes an spot what you did wrong or right, errelevant of result. That way you can work towards improving your weakness'es"

So thirdeye though I agree with you about a ref decision or the ball costing games, when the winning of a game, any game was in your control an you let it slip from your grasp you have to be man enough to call it as it is.

Laslty Grattan,an it is my club we are on about are and will always be honoured to have even been in the quater finals of the Fai with a group of players who were faboulous throughout, led with excellent management throughout.

    Litleman,
Out with the broad brush again!!!!
The point I was making was twofold. Firstly players don't perform if they go into a game with no confidence which obviously wasn't the case, because as you say the game on both occasions was in your own hands, secondly I did say it COULD be a refs decision or a players decision which is the case with bad marking or silly goals nothing to do with confidence. Anyway that is history I just don't agree that lack of confidence played a part then or indeed when teams like Kinsalee are involved. The only reason I commented on your comments was because I contrary to you feel that these teams do enter the competition with the intentions of winning it. I look froward to watching Cork teams progress this year, and as I say I wouldn't fancy a trip to Kanturk, not special per say but capable of causing an upset.

Well thirdeye if you dissagreed with me please keep it to what I said, rather than telling me Im disrespectin Grattan players or the club itself. Both of which I didnt say an I would never do.I have no time for bull an I say it just as I saw it on the actual days those games were played. If I stood an yelled from the rafters that Grattan were goin to win the Fai junior cup you an everybody else would be on here tellin me I loosin the plot,an you'd be right. We got knocked out in the 1st round last season least we need reminding, one game at a time shall we.........oh ya the comment about brushing ect ect,il keep that one in me locker for another day.

Kanturk are probably the best footballing side you will play against from outside the city an the sweeper, the litteguy you referred to we had on the panel for the Keane cup tournement,he was top class an I expect him to keep his place in the team this season.

Caught the Leeside game Sunday, well impressed an the pitch looked in top condition.

Knockavilla an Glenthorn knocked out in away games,Coachford hammered at home in the 1half,strange results

One again, I am not trying to have a go Littleman, I enjoy your posts but sometimes these throwaway comments need to be addresseed. I did comment on what you said which was the players lacked confidence and not just Grattan players but Cork teams as a whole and I feel that is disrespectful to the players bursting a gut to get a result with no inferiority complex whatsoever. Does it mean that the so called BIG teams from outside Cork lack confidence if they don't win the FAI, after all only one team can win it? To me it COULD mean things didn't go their way on the day, nothing to do with confidence. And yes that lad is good, and would look even better with a better side, no DISRESPECT to Kanturk. I have heard good things on Leeside this year and look forward to catching a game of theirs.

I see a lot of AUL clubs beat MSL junior clubs in the first round - i see my old club Hibs beat Everton Premier side - any odds out yet for the AUL leagues - i fancy a flutter on Hibs to win the second division this year

We have met Grangevale many times over the last decade, and I like them as a club. Nice people. Most of the guys now wouldnt have seen most of the games, but they retain the good spirit their club has.

There first 3 games showed they dont concede many, and today proved that too. We didnt have a lot of clear cut chances, but, had enough to win on another day. We were not overly busy at the other end in my opinion. Neither keeper really had to pull a top drawer save.

A bit of effing and blinding today between both sides, but, handshakes and good wishes at the end. Best of luck to Grangevale, and, a good performance will be needed by anyone to beat them.

Overall ref was ok. Two big decisions didnt go our way, but they will another day. Thats cup football.
Horse, thanks for your good wishes bud and all the best to ye for the season too. It's funny how ourselves and yourselves has turned into a bit of a derby over the years, but I suppose we are both clubs with alot of similarities who have both come up the hard way!! Truth be told I would have to admit that we were lucky to hang onto the 1-0 in the end on Sunday. There really was nothing between the two sides. Thanks too for the grub after in the Ridge!!
Hopefully we will cross swords somewhere along the way again during the season. PS that Jason Forde is a handful... was he with ye last year?

    Team of the month:

Lets see what kind of a response I get from this.

On their site the AUL are asking for entries for team of the month, who would get your vote.

Here are some of the contenders.

Grattan Utd : maximum points in Premier League & into the 2nd round of the FAI. (Played 4 won 4)
Kanturk : maximum points in Premier "A (Played 4 won 4)
Douglas Hall : maximum points in League 1 (Played 4 won 4)
Grangevale : maximum points in League 1 & into the 3rd round of the FAI (Played 4 won 4)
Bohemians : maximum points in League 1A (Played 3 won 3)
Glenvale : maximum points in League 2 & into the 3rd round of the FAI (Played 4 won 4)
Churchvilla : maximum points in League 2B (Played 3 won 3)

would agree with you on that nomination mk bucks.
leeside wouldn be far off it either 7pts out of 9 and next round of FAI. 4 of those 7pts against what everyone would be thinking as two title challengers ( kinsale, wilton).
wasn at game v droumree dynamos on sunday, down carrigaline with schoolboys at that must say set up down there with all weather pitch now is second to none. 5-2 win from what i heard from lads could of been alot more and wasn one of our better performances this season, could of played much better. ya littleman pitch is looking well now all right. impressed with new signings or team as a whole?

Being honest Bluey I was impressed yes.I thought ye moved the ball around well an didnt panic when Drom pulled a goal back to make it 2 /1.It was a poor game but that was more to do with your opposition than a lack of effort or ability.Ricky seems to have a spring back in his step an from talkin to Derek on the sideline he seems confident ye can challange Wilton and Kinsale.

On the team of the month thing,I'd give it to Boh's.They scored 11 against Ballyvolane B,(sorry for reminding the Bally contingent) an thats a rare feat to achive an should be rewarded.

Bella lookin forward to the game, should be good when ever it takes place.

    .
Fair point weeman, 11 goals in a game is some achievement BUT the 3 wins they got were against teams at the bottom who've all played 4 games each & have a combined points total of 5 (from a possible combined points total of 36)
Surly team of the month should be measured on more than goals scored in 1 game

Seriously, are Kanturk better than Leeside, Kinsale, Park Utd, Coachford or Knockavilla?

(Yes, there are more 'country bumkins' in the premier division than 'city slickers'.
Are city lads playing the beautiful game anymore?)

What criteria are you basing your statement on.

While I think that Kanturk are a good side, are they really better than all of the listed higher division teams?
