UCC B 0-2 Dillons Cross, It was a good game to have after the long break without a game, they packed the defence and centre midfield, took about an hour to break them down, we should have won by more, but we were a bit rusty. JJ didnt have one save to make in the whole match, Grangevale away next week in the Munster Junior Cup. It should be a close one I'd say.

Alright D Cross, looking forward to the game next weekend, weather is supposed to be ok this week so fingers crossed...
Was out in d farm yesterday watching ye're game v UCC, have to agree with ya, your keeper was lucky it wasn't last week or he would have had icicles hanging off him I'd say!! Been a long time since I saw a more one sided affair.. twas only a matter of time before ye scored, I'd say had ye pushed it ye could have hit them for a cricket score eventually but when you're that comfortable it can be hard to motivate yourself to even bother!!! Hope we give ye more of a run for yere money!!!

PS Any idea which Waterford team awaits the winner of our game in next round?

    All the best,

Doug I don't think there is a Waterford website but the draw says it'll be one of 3 possibilities:
De La Salle or St Josephs or Villa FC

I think the POWERS that be within the street are jumping the gun a bit too soon .From what your saying NO paper work has passed between Bally and the street .I can tell you the same goes for Glenvale no request for a transfer form from the player or B street , the first they heard or read about it was on the www. Which i think was a bit cheeky and arrogant to say the least

First things first lads id like to apologise to Glenvale and ballyvolane for my post last week where i stated that we had signed two players from these clubs... at the time and as already pointed out there had been no paperwork signed and it was silly of me to say that we had SIGNED these players... it was a simple honest mistake on my part.. having spoken to the two lads and seen one of them train with us i just took it for granted when posting and never meant to cause offence to anyone.... my intention was never to be cheeky and arrogant as that is not how i or blarney st operate... the ballyvolane secretary had been notified by the player of his intention to leave and i had a conversation with the glenvale manager so he too was aware of the situation so a request had been made before he read it on the www.... anyway my post was still not accurate and so again i aplolgise to the clubs involved.... I am glad to say that the paperwork has been signed now and i thank both clubs for their co operation on this....
Big result for kinsale yesterday in the farm and by all accounts good value for it... they now are certainly the team to catch for everyone chasing and gives us a very hard task next week having to travel down to charles fort on sat... looking forward to renewing our rivalry with the kinsale lads and im sure Bog will have a big welcome for us!!! was bit suprised that leeside dropped few points down in knockavilla expected an away win there
Seems like the only winners from the game between bally and blackstone were kanturk... draw seems to be the fair result going by the reports....
Reading marios post about their game its dissapointing to think that a referee would turn up with no intention of the game going ahead...surely he could have given it a bit of time..
has anyone any idea how derek varian is doing in msl.... havent heard a whole deal... i know its slightly of this forum but interested to know how he found the step up... not a bother i would have thought...

Being honest this game could easily have been played the ref said the pitch was frozen and to hard but it was soft enough and calling it off at 10:15 that time is a joke, both teams wanted to wait till 11 both warm up on it and see would it be thawed out by then and to be fair it was getting softer without us jogging on it.

Both teams felt this game should have been played no problem whatsoever, the ref had his mind made up even before he got to the pitch if you ask me but thats just my opinion.. He said it would take an hour to thaw out but we said we wait till 11 jus 15mins less than an hour and he was having none of it.

You'd think the AUL want fixtures played so to not add to the backlog so to call the match off for a pitch that was although a slight bit hard (at 10:15) was in good condition
Kind of disappointing when this happens but sometimes clubs use the weather to their advantage too (not saying ye mario) so the ref is only human!! Next week will be our 8th league match - 6 of which have been at home!!! And when the weather was really bad we had a ref who really wanted to play a game with both teams there but in hindsight couldnt but nice to see all the same!!

I have also seen occasions where referees have no intention of playing the game, but there is also the consideration that player welfare is his responsibility. All you need is one guy to go over on a hard patch with a broken ankle - and then we would be asking why did the ref go ahead with the game.
Don't know the exact circumstances but in most cases if a referee has gotten up early and is checking the pitch 30 minutes before kick-off he is normally interested enough in seeing the game played - not sure why he wasn't prepared to wait till 11 though - maybe had an afternoon game...

Thanks Innish, I did a bit of digging last night & found out that DeLa Salle lost 5-1 to St Josephs so the winner of our game now plays the winner of St Josephs & Villa..
Couldn't find any site for Waterford District League either, strange....

    Cheers Innish,

    Doug,

One of my colleagues at work is a Waterford native and as far as he is aware there is no official website for the Waterford Junior and District League. He said to log on to the Munster Express website for tables and for limited match reports relating to that league.

So Doug most likely to be Villa if ye get through seeing as Villa's second team are above St. Josephs in the league... Must say by that table Carrick are looking very impressive as I know recently Tramore did well in MJC and Waterford Crystal are normally fairly handy, to be 6 from 6 scoring 18 conceding 3 is highly impressive.
Be a nice away trip to Waterford either way, best of luck at the weekend.

    Ya innish, looks likely alright...

Can't look beyond Sunday though... Dillons X will be a tough one no doubt, should be evenly matched so looking forward to it.
Just hoping now that weather will improve before the weekend, for some reason our pitch doesn't seem to be recovering as well as it used to from the rain, despite the hill, if there's not a decent breeze it won't dry out so hopefully the rain we are seeing today will stop and we'll pray for gales!!!

    norrie news

Hello Doug I watch Dillons quite a bit because they play only a stones throw away from my house. In fairness they have a great attitude an their team spirit is a credit to them.Dont be fooled by appearences as they have some smashin players and are very effective.

Streetscene it seems to me that in Cork the norm is that you hear a player is leaving a club or joining one in the pub first,an a website second so though you may want to be diplomatic an I appriciate that for me I dont see why you have to explain yourself.I was told Shane was movin in December. Those 2 players mentioned made their own decisions to join Blarney St an they wernt poached or tapped up.Shane hasnt played much for the club he has left and the same goes for Greaney so it wasnt a big surprise to anyone who I have talked too about either player leaving.

With regards to Kinsales lead,I agree they have to be very happy with the weekends results as it was a great 3 points won,an especially so as Wilton should have had 2 stonewall penos in the last 15 mins.So ya I think it was a good 3 points.Leesdie are goin well an a blip was to be expected at some stage. It happens to every team.Kinsale have gone through theirs an us too so ya just have to get on with things an hope it improves.

Every side will have a blip where they play badly for 4 or 5 games. We had ours an its cost us the extra cup games we are used to having but at least we are still in with a shout.Confidence is very high an we should have plenty of energy due to us making early exits from the main cups.Cant wait for a bleedin game to be honest....a chance to make up for things.

    In event of cancelled games......

For any managers/coaches out there......if you're games are cancelled this weekend, or in the coming weeks, but you still want to have a training session, I can facilitate classes at my gym in Midleton.
It's a Thai-Boxing gym (might be handy for fisticuffs on the pitch ) but I also run circuit training/strength&conditioning classes which can be geared towards football players.

It's a new venture for me wrt training teams, so I'll be offering extremely competetive rates if anybody wants to take me up on it.
Have a look at www.midletonmuaythai.com to see the gym or www.corkpersonaltraining.com to see a little more about me. Websites are being built so aren't fully populated yet.

Any questions, feel free to give me a buzz on 087-2494657.
    Brendan.
